King Power taps into online shopping

BANGKOK, 28 April 2015, (NNT) - Thailand's travel retailer King Power International Group is branching into online shopping, as it joined hands with Kasikorn Bank and China's third-party online payment solution Alipay.

King Power Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha said the campaign offers duty-free goods online to incoming Chinese tourists through its website www.kingpoweronline.com. The website will support transactions through Thailand’s KBank’s K-Payment Gateway and China’s Alipay. He said the service would go live in May.

He explained that customers can pick up their purchases by presenting the electronic receipt at King Power branches in departure terminals at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports.

King Power will also deliver other local goods, such as food ordered through its website, to the customer’s accommodations nationwide.

Mr. Vichai indicated that Chinese customers accounted for 55 percent of sales last year at 55 billion baht. He added that the company this year planning to increase that figure to 65 billion baht.

Goes well with the "controlled democracy" of the middle classes.

Great concept, especially the idea tourists abroad go online shopping.

Better warn them not to take the "free" gift that comes with purchase.

Many other DF outlets do this.....but here in Thailand........Ah......sorry too much, but we have no stock at present..........or........this voucher is incorrect...........fail!

How will they be able to make money online? Considering it won't be possible to slip items into peoples bags and then frame them for shoplifting, and then demand they bribe the airport police to get out the airport jail, and that's where king powers profit margin lies..remember the 2 professors from Leads?

Do we call K.Power shopping at the Airports "out of line shopping" OTT prices, tried buying DUTY FREE perfumes ?? duty free Ha Ha ha joke, I asked why the expensive tag--supervisor said because we have to import them ha ha ha. who does not anywhere in the world import AMARIS YSL CHANEL. Compare prices at other major airports in the world for duty free, you will be shocked at this K.Power company. They near have a monopoly, therefore near control freaks. So Chris and others they should answer for their bad reputation and before going ON LINE, they should GET IN LINE themselves.

King Power scare me more than walking naked

through a Nuclear Power Plant, remember the

Enter airport proceed to boarding gate, enter any df shop and you may miss your flight while being extorted or illegally detained-happy landing.

After walking through the airport shops a seeing the prices I can't believe

people shop there. coffee1.gif

Nice to see KP has retained their "sterling" reputation among expats here -- even though it's been quite a while since the shop and get detained and extorted at Suvarnabhumi reports circulated.

Some things are worth remembering..even with the passage of time.

None of the Suvarnabhumi taxfree shops are cheap. And ALL are very slow, i always wonder why we have to wait so long while 5-7 people are behind the counter.

Dubai taxfree is much cheaper

Never a issue buying liquor at Thailand duty free (always good price compared to in thqilqnd}. China duty free shops are super expensive.
