sure i have a cheapo 800w two stroke gen i will accommodate poss 4 fans and a couple of short florescent lights

not sure how you intend to wire all this up basic extension leads the easiest but up to you

down side the noise i suggest at least a 1000 w 4 stroke engine

genuine Honda machines seem to have the best ive seen and (heard) but more expensive

any of the larger retail outlets have a good selection global house/homepro/ etc the local agricultural shops in my area will set up and test in the shop (best)

yes you will get all of these hence my suggestion to go for quality every time this will lessen the problems but certainly not eliminate

My wife was buying roof tile today for her Village House project at the Buriram Builders Merchants. They seem to do a thriving trade in gasoline and diesel back up power generators for Buriram residential, hospitality and farming applications. Mr. Pichai told me that the super quiet diesel generator that has been sold and installed by several expats in Buriram Province is the 5 kw white Jupiter model for 28,500 baht. I was told by Mr. Pichai that he often orders much larger Atlas Copco European made generators for resort owners, but those generators are significantly more baht. He said his electricians have installed generators.

I know an expat who owns this same 5 kw Jupiter diesel back up generator in a village in Buriram Province. He told me "To keep things simple I went with "Dual Sockets". The generator is wired up to a separate breaker box and from there distributed throughout the house. In the event of a power failure I have to physically step outside and turn the key.". That expat had previous electrical experience in Europe. There must be plenty of shops in Isaan that sell diesel generators, but I would see which shops can also be the warranty repair station for the brands they sell.

I purchased one of the no brand names many years ago thinking it would fall apart. I use it for my filtration systems on my fish tanks when the mains power has issues.

The 13hp engine sounds like a tractor, but has never had any repairs done and still going strong.

The portable units are NOISY!!!

There are some very quiet 'suitcase' generators, but they are usually small (<1000VA).

We have a 6kVA KwaiThong like the yellow one in KB2's last picture. Lives in a home built 'quiet' box, home built transfer switch and generator controller makes it full auto. Works well.

That Jupiter at 28,500 Baht looks very good value for a (relatively) silent genset.

There is no shortage of "interesting brands" of gasoline generators in Buriram. I noted that the Jupiter JD - D5 Super quiet diesel generator is far less noisy than any other generator I had heard priced under 40,000 baht. I like Crossy's idea of a quiet

box for an open sided generator. The Honda 4 stroke gasoline 2.0 KVA with the maximum output of 2.2 KVA is sold at 15,000 baht in Buriram so it might be priced at or near that price at other Honda Dealers. It is a genuine Honda Power Product, but

it manufactured at a Honda assembly plant in China.
