Court issues warrant for arrest of 11 more human trafficking suspects

SONGKHLA: -- The Songkhla provincial court has issued warrant for the arrest of 11 more human trafficking suspects, deputy commissioner of the Royal Thai Police Pol Gen Ake Angsananont disclosed Friday.

He said the arrest warrant for the 11 suspects is in addition to 18 suspects which arrest warrants have earlier been issued.

He said the police are also gathering more evidence to seek arrest warrants for seven more.

He also said that following pressure by police a key suspect who is the mayor of Padang Besar municipality, Banchong Pongpol, alias Ko Chong, turned himself to the police yesterday and he is now being questioned by police.

Another key suspect, Supot Muensiew, who he said could link murders of Rohinya migrants in Songkhla and Satun provinces has been apprehended and was escorted to his homes to search for evidences.

Primarily the deputy commissioner said the police have discovered some explosives at his home.

Police chief to take legal action against police officers involved in trafficking of Rohingyas

BANGKOK, 8 May 2015 (NNT)-The Police Commander says he will leave no stone in every police department unturned in order to bring those involved in the trafficking of Rohinya to justice.


Police Chief Police General Somyos Poomphanmuang has demanded that police do their best in preventing human trafficking, and that they should not get involved in such a heinous crime to line their own pockets.

Any police found to have taken part in such a crime will be prosecuted and removed from his position immediately.

Police General Somyos has also asked the investigation unit to find out whether government officials from other agencies have been involved.

The names of the culprits will be revealed to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Defense Minister Prawit Wongsuwan before harsh legal action is taken.
