These things are very common across Asia. In some places, they charge you more for 'no ice' - in which case they will fill the cup. You got the other option: half-filled cup. Yeah, you probably think they're being cheap. They will think the same of you for trying to get a little more juice in the cup by passing on the ice.

I've experienced the wait for the bus to leave several times, even on the VIP buses, up to about 30 minutes. They make the time up of course!

Geez, you guys would really cry in the PI. SOP, to wait until the bus or ferry is full, when it is, it leaves. That means you could be there early and wait for the bus/boat to fill, or get there on time and have it gone because it filled-up early.

Yes. No shop will give you a full glass of anything if you ask for no ice. It is a cheap charley move that they know.

But the cheap charlie move is from the side of the vendor, as they want to sell you a glass of ice with lemon flavor, at the price of a glass of lemonade.

The OP makes the mistake in assuming that the 3.30 bus is scheduled to leave at 3.30. It isnt. Its the 3.30 bus that leaves when it is ready to leave. If he wanted to leave at 3.30 he should have got the 3.00 bus.

Carrying a flask of drink in a water bottle is cheaper, healthier and saves on high blood pressure resulting from overreacting to standard Thai practice in drinks shops.

Inflammatory posts have been removed.

Thanks Metisdead, I think it's better to shut down this topic, it seems to be attracting the half wits.

I am not angry about anything, just pointing out what i think were two weird experiences.

I would love to see the beer drinkers face if he got his pint glass half full. is that not the same with a soft drink?
