I am looking to buy a home security system like the "Egardia" system currently sold in Germany.

It is wireless, with battery backup, configurable by webinterface through the LAN or the internet, it can send alert emails and the components trigger the alarm when they are moved or the battery bay opened.

I want to buy:

central control unit with ethernet plug and internal siren

1 keypad / operation unit

4 motion detectors

2 contact sensors

2 remote controls

Are the any good equivalent systems for sale in the LOS ?

The above costs about 30k Baht.

I can't say I see too many vendors selling the old style PIR or microwave motion detectors these days.

The popular alternative is a motion-sensing IP camera based system, so that when an alarm goes off, you can have a look to see what's going on from wherever you are. There are countless vendors in TH for such systems. These system will require wires to be run though..

We have a Risco wireless security system fitted by Maxwell, http://www.maxwell.co.th/eng/index.php?intro_clip=1

We have a GSM/GPRS module which acts as a backup if the internet goes down; you can still receive notifications and control the system by sms.

I never liked PIRs so we have magnetic sensors on doors and windows.

Cost with 14 window/door detectors was 54,000 THB

In the past 15 months we have had only one false alarm about a month ago when a sensor went off during an unusually strong storm: the sensor set the alarm off about two minutes after a bolt of lightning almost directly above the house. It may have just been a coincidence but they replaced it under the two year warranty, no charge.

We also have a cctv system as I would not fit a security system without the ability to visually verify whether an alarm is genuine or not.

We have had the Wisdom System for about 5 years ... no probs except you need to change the detector batteries every year or so. Very professional company and they did a neat installation job. Highly recommend Maxwell

Visonic Powermax is available in Thailand. Visonic is considered one of the pioneers in wireless security worldwide. It does all what the OP requested and more.

Expect to pay about double what you would pay for it in the west.

I have a Visonic Powermax which I imported from the UK.

Finally I have ordered the Egardia system from Germany.

cost me 700 EUR for

main unit with integrated internal siren

1 control unit

2 outdoor sirens

2 contact sensors (for door and window)

3 motion detectors

2 remote controls

I will let you know in one months or two how well it works.

As my condo has security, I don't really need the notifications system to work 100% even when the internet is down.

Acoustic alarm will be sufficient to attract the security guards to my condo, so I feel that in my case the premium for a GPRS system isn't worth it.

nope, it's enough if it's just to be loud enough to scare thieves away.

internal siren: 97 Db, external: 104 Db x 2

Unless motion detectors have been improved this little guy will make a mess of them in his nightly crawls. Been there - been awoken many times.

Well I know for a fact they did mine when they walked across the transducer - but that was original UHF type system. Perhaps they can computer eliminate these days. Use occupancy as alarm system for last 30 years and never had an issue.
