just home from Patong and a very unpleasant dealing with a taxi driver that drove us home.. At first he wanted a scandalous amount to drive the 15 minutes home, which normally would have got us further than the airport..Anyway, my gf got a bit sick in the car, he slowed down , while she opened the window and was sick... we got to our destination, he said he wanted extra money to clean the car...ok, no problem, we even cleaned the car for him, with hose, and gave him some money for his time... Then he wanted more money, an arguement started, he took photo of us, while i took a pic of his car registration , my friend had to restrain myself from knocking his head off, and he sat parked outside for a good 30 minutes while on his phone , until he obviously found that no one was coming to help him or we were giving him no more money...Anyway, if you see this number plate, stay well clear..just a crook, con man ..silver in colour with yellow stickers on side..

Thanks for the heads up.

There are some very rough taxi drivers in Phuket. At least half of the ones I have had drive me have been shady to say the least. Not responding to questions and smelling of alcohol and getting angry at nothing and what not.

Yes, illegal taxi. And unlike other places the illegals will not give better service or be cheaper. Stay away from them.

What rank was this illegal taxi operating from? He must be a paying "association" member to be allowed to join the taxi tuk tuk queue without getting beaten up by the other thugs. Amazing how the police look the other way on these blatant infractions, yet they are hot on the heels of a "deaf" foreigner.

His car was parked right across from Tai Pan where the tuk tuks were sitting, it was the only taxi to be sitting there.... And we never saw 1 cop around that area

You should turn this guy in!

Nothing will be done , if he´s obviously sitting in a spot like Tai Pan without legal plates, he´s already paying someone with authority to be there

All that means he is friends with the guys running that taxi stand or paying them.

I would take it up with the DLT.

Exactly. You paid for everybody in the high taxi fare. The cops and the taxi mafia took a share.

Report the guy to police and if you don't get any positive feedback, report it to the NCPO. It's an illegal taxi and a scary one at that. No place for these in Phuket.

Playing devils advocate, a real taxi driver [elsewhere] once told me that when a drunk vomits down the window and into the door, it is very difficult to get it clean and remove the smell. A car could be off the road for two days for cleaning.

If the vomit was only on the outside, it's very easy to clean and no smell will be left. First hand experience from someone puking out of my car.

On the inside however is a very different story indeed and could even be impossible to clean in some cases.

But since he wasn't supposed to drive as a Taxi in the first place, I don't think it matters much.

Sure the driver has a totally different view about this story. Going rate for taxis cleaning vomit inside the car was in Vienna 150 Euro 12 years ago.

So i'm no friend of taxi mafia but if vomit inside his car and give him some baht then this is normally not the end of the story.

You always meet twice.

there was no vomit inside the taxi ..just a few light splashes of bile on the outside, basically not much to complain about, especially as he got his taxi cleaned and got some extra money, the only thing was a few drops of water on the back seats, as he had not shut the back window properly... and by a few, could count the droplets on 2 hands... they guy was an utter kn0bb.. nothing more nothing less...

How much did he want to charge and how much did you offer for the vomit incident?

How did water come from you through the back window to the inside? Not sure I get the picture.

Also were you guys drunk?
