I am applying for a new UK passportthis week, I currenly have a O visa valid until december 2015, but... my current 90 days runs out on June 9, so it looks very likely i will have a couple or few weeks overstay while waiting for my new passport, im thinking of doing a border bounce to cambodia to avoid this
My problem is my passport expires in mid october (so 5 month left), i have read many post here suggesting that it is no problme to do a border bounce to cambodia and get my additional 90 days which is still well within my passport expiery and my visa length, can anyone confirm this is the case, i wwas thinking of the cambodia border near koh chang but am open to suggestion if theres a better choice.
So is it still the case that with 5 months left on my passport i can get another 90 days at border?

2 weeks seems to be the norm, so hurry up with applying.

At immigration you can get an extra 7 days to leave the country. If it takes longer it will be overstay or applying for an emergency travel document.

I think that the closest country that will allow you to enter without 6 months validity is Hong Kong. An expensive "border bounce"!

I have personally witnessed someone I was travelling with being refused entry with less than 6 months in the passport.

The best answer may be to go get an extension from immigration and then apply for the new passport.

For Thailand the 6 months for entry depends upon a persons nationality. For most that are allowed visa exempt entries it is validity for the length of stay.

You can renew your UK passport within the last 12 months of its ex piracy date, they add the unused time on so why leave it so late . I applied for renewal last week I understand the turn around is roughly 3 weeks but then you have to get a letter ( FREE ) from the Brit Embassy in BKK to confirm to immigration that it is a new passport when you apply you keep your old passport but you cannot travel on it it's purely for identification. As I live on Koh Samui and it would cost a fortune to do two round trips to BKK I had a guy who lives in BKK go and do it on my behalf at a very reasonable price GOOD LUCK !

Sorry you are giving incorrect information

For a UK passport you can renew at any time, not just within the last 12 months of its expiry ( Freudian slip? ex piracy, or may be accurate knowing HMPO)

They will add up to 9 months to the new passport (not 12) from the validity of the old passport.

Regarding to your question, according to our passport validity regulation your passport must have at least 6 months validity from the date you are expecting to enter Thailand. Thank you

Wrong.

It must have enough validity to cover the length of stay.

Have you got plenty of blank pages left ? Surprising how quickly your passport fills with whole page stickers from these adjoining Asean countries !

Applied and got my passport in less than two weeks. US Embassy Chiang Mai. Two thumbs up!!!

You'll have to check with your fellow Brits about UK turnaround time. But I'm still guessing 2 weeks.
