Kan Air adds new Hua Hin to Pattaya flight

How long will the flights to HH last. We had many airways in the past and none could make it work.

I give it 6 months to a year at most for the Patts to HH route. There is not much demand for this run as first they are both beach resorts so who really wants to go to the same place they are already are; and second, they appeal to different types of travelers so again why would they want to visit both.

When the promo prices are over, I suspect the regular prices will be around 2-3k return, verses under 1k for a city-center to city-center bus connection, and when adds in the costs of two RT airport transfers maybe up to 3500-4500 baht range.

This is so true.

I don't believe there is real demand for this route either. The two destinations really attract a different kind of visitor.

It's the same problem with the proposed ferry between the two destinations - it's tried and failed once before but the govt seem to think there is big demand for travel between Hua Hin and Pattaya but personally I don't see it.

Still nice to have the option though.

There are widespread rumours that Hua Hin hotels association are really pushing for flights between HH and Hong Kong and Singapore. HH airport has recently extended the runway apparently to cater for larger air craft in the not too distant future.

It would also expect that not all routes they have introduced will be profitable in the long run.

I think the Khon Kaen and Udon Thani routes will be the most used due to the vast number of Isaan people working around Rayong, Mapthaput, Ban Chang and Sattahip, i know a lot of my co-workers are already using them.

I would be a bit worried about safety If the taxi to the airport costs more than the flight ticket.

Don't move to Phuket then, not uncommon to get a promo fare up to Bangkok that costs less than the taxi to the airport thumbsup.gif

I own properties in both places and spend time between the two knowing many that will use this route on a regular basis. If anything I would expect them to increase the frequency. Even at 1,690 it still beats the bus or tedious drive. Maybe Im lucky as I am in close proximity to both airports and will be able to get door-door in not much more than an hoursmile.png

Are you and Hess other "many" the same folks who kept the Pattaya-Hua Hin ferries in business all of a few months....twice!

Kanair offer free shuttle buses to coinside with flight times...The existing routes are still offering promo fares if booked in advance so no reason to believe they wont continue for a length of time.

Sorry but I just don't see the demand between Pattaya and Hua Hin...Chiang Mai Hua Hin I could see, Singapore or Hong Kong to Hua Hin may be viable too but not Patts to HH. You'll be back on The bus or your car within a year. The ferries tried it twice but couldn't make a go of it...don't see how an airline will do better.

Who wants to go to HH anyway?

Even if they gave me 1000 bath, they could not drag me on that plane. tongue.png

My daughter sometimes flies Phuket- U-Tapao- Phuket, easy for me for picking her up and sending her back to her mom.

1 time per day and the route been there a while now.

What happened to the Pattaya - Hua Hin fast boat service?

Ask the Junta PM that was one off his many new changes to save the country that has not happened.

Bulls##t has nothing to do with the PM

The service has stopped about 3 years now

The other Kan Air topic has been closed with a link that I don't have 'permission' to use.

I've used them before & found the service excellent but on their website there are now no flights from Utapao or Udon Thani with Kan Air

Awful shame & I hope this route get sorted out before long

I'm still waiting to get my money back from the flights I booked after they called me out of the blue one evening and said my outgoing and return flight had both been cancelled.

Not even a courtesy email from the company to explain exactly why.

they told me I would have to wait 45 days to get my money back

A great shame - with reports of 14 to 15 pax on a 66 seat ATR gas guzzler they must be losing a fortune. The schedule seems to change by the day. Ironic but better than when they left all the pretend routes on it.

Wow, finished already. I flew from Hua Hin to U-Tapao earlier this month; a very good (albeit odd) experience: 25 minutes, take off to landing, a total of 3 passengers, and only 990 baht (including free shuttle bus to Jomtien), Too bad they've canceled the route, although I can definitely see why. The whole trip was short... and kind of surreal. Both Hua Hin & U-Tapao airports were eerily empty- like 2 or 3 staff and the same 3 passengers at both ends. A weird interlude; do the smaller airlines typically do much market research before starting a new route... or what??

they do so at most places on this planet, less so in South-East-Asia.

I am curious to learn how the AirAsia flight to KL fares. it's supposed to be 3 times a week, if I am not mistaken

Actually it's not that which has insulted me. It's the total lack of any formal communication as to why these flights were cancelled. On that night that the person with very poor English gave me this bad news I asked her why and all she could say was technical difficulty!bah.gif

Anyway I can't ever see myself using them again

They didn't seem to have a proper advertising strategy.

I only found out about Kan Air from a post on this website.

There's no point in having these fantastic deals if no one knows about them

And here was me thinking they must have spent all their money on advertising signs around Ban Chang, Rayong, Satthahip, millions of them!!

I don't understand why they didn't start out small with their Cessna grand Caravan. Yes it would have been a slower journey but I don't think some people would have cared for the convenience of going from pattaya. They use this plane on services in the north of Thailand. I think that has about 8 or 10 seats. I was gobsmacked when I heard they were using a 66 seat plane and that was three times a week to Chiang Mai.

I would have been surprised if they could fill that plane up once a week.
