BANGKOK: -- METROPOLITAN Police Commissioner Lt-General Sriwara Rangsipramanakul has ordered a probe into a plastic bag stuffed with explosives and ammunition that was found in his reserved parking space at his office's compound yesterday morning, an informed source said.

"He expects to get the probe results within 15 days," the source said.

Cleaners spotted the suspicious bag at 10am and alerted an explosive ordnance disposal team.

An inspection by the team showed the weapons inside the bag were still in usable condition. The team safely removed the items from the car park zone.

Pol Maj-General Sombat Milintajinda, a commander at the Metropolitan Police Bureau, said it was possible the bag contained weapons seized during the 2014 political unrest and might have been left at Sriwara's parking lot by accident.

"I don't think the bag was intended to harm him," Sombat said. "He usually doesn't park there anyway."

Sriwara also said the explosives did not seem to have been planted for any attack on life.

"The safety pins on the grenades were not removed. They are also properly covered with paper," he pointed out.

So far, he refused to confirm whether these war weapons were related to political turmoil.

"We have to investigate this. We have to find out how the war weapons ended up in that spot," he said.

Security cameras ?

'........and might have been left at Sriwara's parking lot by accident.'

555 do they really expect anyone to believe that?

A not-so-thinly veiled threat....perhaps retaliatory.

Didn't the police just bust an Army Lt-General for human trafficking? Doesn't the Army have access to all these weapons? Isn't the General PM an Army General PM?

Of course, but the military would never threaten anyone.....such speculation is sheer nonsense, impossible to conceive, and conspiratorial theorizing, of course.

Forgive my ignorance - but why do they wear gloves? What is the purpose of these gloves?

so they dont leave any fingerprints, pretty obvious, if these were handled by someone else their prints will be on them. Then again, this is Thailand so it might be just so they look professional.
