Hi Guys,

We are a Farang/Thai couple living in the UK & potentially looking to relocate to Thailand. Not immediately, possibly in a year or two so starting to plan ahead. I'm nowhere close to retirement and so we would need to start a business to support ourselves, something we could set up together.

One idea I had was an introduction/marriage agency. Not a dating website, more a physical office with a website where farang (mainly aimed at Brits/USA) would buy a specific "package". We would then arrange intros/dates etc plus add-on's depending on what level of package is purchased by the customer. Looking at some of the established agencies in Bangkok they seem to charge extortionate fees for what I imagine is pretty minimal work/overheads?

I guess my question(s) is this, do you think with the rise and rise of dating websites and social media, is such a business still a viable option with the right marketing etc? Is there still a demand for a "middle man" for newbies looking for a Thai partner? Is it even a legal way to start a legit company?

**Note: I am well aware that such a business raises certain "ethical" issues but please if you don't mind sticking to trying to answer my question in this thread**

Many Thanks

The internet has killed physical dating agencies, especially as there are plenty of sites that hook people up for free.

Give this idea a miss. You will waste time, effort and money with it.

Very good luck - you will definitely need it.

What will separate your business from the competition? What will provide me the winning edge?

Don't ask me - ask YOURSELF.

And when the intros and subsequent relationships do not work out, expect unhappy customers in your face. Or at least asking for refunds. Or worse, angry spouses of cheating wives in your office!
