Prescription medicine and Vitiamins

Featured Replies

Would I run into any issues at Thai mmigration with my meds? Let's say with out any prescription paper but in original container. How about Vitiamins but we're still sealed in bottle?

I'm sorry I asked this question twice. Maybe one of the mods can delete this one.

On normal amounts no one care. But I would be carefully if it is something related to narcotics......opium based pain killers or some cough syrup....

Immigration is not the issue, it is customs (and police).

You are allowed to bring in a 30 day supply of pharmaceuticals with you for personal use, and they do not usually count out exact amounts so a tad more would probably get through OK but obviously not suitcases full.

Most of the drugs that require a prescription in the West do not in Thailand, BTW. However, rules regarding pyschotropic meds and narcotics are draconian. If any of your meds fall into those categories be sure to follow the instructions in this link: http://www.fda.moph.go.th/eng/narcotics/index.stm

Be aware if you're ordering medications and vitamins for shipment to you here in Thailand, you're very likely to encounter problems with customs if they're shipped via DHL/UPS/FedEx. Surprisingly, there are few problems with customs when items like this are shipped via the postal system -- just be sure you have reliable delivery on your end. Most Thai post delivery people are very good, esp if you live in a guest house, condo, apartment. But if you're in a detached dwelling there can sometimes be confusion about delivery address.

I think he is referring to bringing in with him when he comes, not shipping.

Actually it is not technically legal to have pharmaceuticals shipped to you unless you possess a pharmaceutical import license (which you cannot get unless you are employed legally in that sector) though by normal post small amounts are usually let through.

I get mine sent by ordinary post for the last 10 years ,also carry 6 months supply when I fly back, never yet had a problem, but always carry my prescription
