Leung Ken - New Phuket moderator

Featured Replies

Congratulations Uncle Ken on your new position. I'm not sure why you would want to take on the task, but I know you will excel.

I'll do my best to still my acerbic tongue to try and make your task easier.tongue.png

Does this mean you may have to occasionally venture south of the Heroines monument?

Thanks for the welcome Croc.

Perhaps it was a moment of madness accepting the position, but did feel I should give something back to Thaivisa as it is basically a very good service as a source of information & advice.

I have been around for quite a while and lived here in Phuket for about 13 years, and live a quiet life both in the north of the island and in Thaivisa.

Long may it continue.

Good choice! May the rest of us try to behave, at least for the most of the time.

Best wishes.

Your turn at the helm was rather short lived. What happened? I hope all is well with you… I'll finally be back in town next month after a much longer stay in California than we had planned...

Cheers! Jimi

This will be the last time I'll comment of my time as an moderator in public. So listen carefully, I will say this only once (said in French woman accent). (*)

To be an moderator is much more than clicking posts or topics to be removed from the view of others.

The task of moderation is a constant evaluation for every post, balancing between what is fun, good willing witty posts between friends and what are simply nasty posts from our members, wanting to hurt others. Unfortunately those nasty trolls and generally evil folks are those among us.

I wanted to get one part of the forum to get new ideas, learn from each others.

I personally don't want to be a teacher for the kids. I want to be one of the kids. I want to be free an do my occasional silly posts, not worrying too much of the consequences. Basically having a good time with the Thaivisa folks. Being a moderator burned my fun, much faster than I expected. It's a hard work, really.

The benefits, for me was that I managed to meet, in person, many of our moderators. These folks are good in heart and generally have a great sense of humour. They have to have the humour to deal with all the things they are presented at. Moderators simply have to do their tasks. Wether its's fun or not.

The work what LivingInKata did for the Phuket forum for the past have had been great. LIK was very strong to cut all the nastiness on the Phuket forum, when it was going bad. That time was many years ago. Ever since, he have been very fair for all kind of impressions.

But let's get back to the current situation.

We have a new, polite for all, moderator on the Phuket forum. The last time the Phuket forum newbies had a new forum moderator, are now the elders.

So why not to give our support to the new moderator. He is the person, who teached me about arts. I think he is the all right person to deal with the problematic folks who might wish to troll the Phuket forum.

How do you think?

(*) So I hope you did listen carefully as I say this only once.

Moderators move in mysterious ways.

Rest assured they are always around though.

Haven't seen a post, or any moderating, from Leung Ken, for a while.

Say, I have an idea. Let's piss him off and see if he shows up! 1zgarz5.gifw00t.gif

As this thread has run it's course I think it is time to close it up.

Thanks to those who wished me well.
