I have a small condo (30sqm), most of the bathrooms in my building don't have extractor fans. I want a ceiling fan. I have a 30cm ceiling space but there are 2 downlights and of course dodgy thai wiring in that space. There is a downpipe closet going directly up to the roof. I can put a small vented hole from the ceiling space through to the closet. I originally wanted a ducted fan but they are 3 times more expensive than the standard slat fans. My question is can i use a slat fan directed to the downpipe clost hole or is this inadvisable?

yeah sure, sorry my mistake. Most extractor fans at the rear just push the air out, there are small slats which blow open then closed. The other type you see mostly in kitchens. The rear of the unit pushed the air into a duct which relays the exhaust to a vent in an external wall. You understand?
