Nong Khai Immigration tightens screening measures

NONG KHAI, 4 September 2015 (NNT) - Immigration officials in Nong Khai province have exerted greater vigilance at the border checkpoint, as police continue to search for those behind the Ratchaprasong bombing.

Nong Khai Immigration Chief Police Colonel Panlop Suriyakul Na Ayutthaya has instructed police officers to be more rigorous in screening and monitoring foreign nationals that enter and leave Thailand. He singled out the the border checkpoint, the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge and the train station.

Police will also conduct a sweep of Nong Khai hotels. Hoteliers will be fined if any foreign nationals are found to have stayed at their accommodations without reporting to Immigration.

There are currently 41 Chinese nationals conducting business at Indo-China market and two Turkish men living in Nong Khai.

Read the whole article especially the last line they are on top of things.

They let me cross the border to go shopping a few years back for 500 bht and hang on to my passport no check just walked through and promised to come back in a few hours.

TAT needs to spin a new campaign: Leave Your Money In the Box at Immigration, then turn around, and go the hell somewhere else. We don't want foreign scum here, and just to prove it, we're going to start making your low-status lives as miserable as we possibly can.
