Where does AMG allow its builders to put their signature ?

Not sure I understand your question. AMGs' "builders" are Mercedes.

AMG is a part of Mercedes (has been since the mid 90s'). If you have a AMG car, then the engine will have been built in Germany and then shipped to one of the manufacturing plants around the world (in the UK McLaren builds the AMG cars).

Interesting trivia for you.....did you know that every AMG engine is built by just one engineer who is responsible for the entire build process right upto putting the oil in the engine. Each one has a plaque on the engine with the engineers name/signature on it :D

The AMG logo will be on all the parts designed and manufactured by AMG and if you bought an AMG car then you also get the logo on the back with the model number :D

Think its funny here in Thailand the number of people who think putting an AMG badge on the back of there 12 year old E200 makes it special.....especially when they don't even bother to put any AMG wheels or Aero kits on it......just leave it standard and put a huge 6" boy racer back box on it :D yeah sooooo like a real AMG that :o

The SLK and the S are normal MBs. The SL is in the USA and the other two are here in Bangkok. My wife drives the S and I drive the SLK. The SLK is very suitable for Bangkok traffic.

I didn't mean to imply that yours wasn't a genuine AMG :D just that the "Badge Upgrade" here in Thailand seems to be more prolific than at home :D

But haven't you got it backwards? Surely you should be driving the S and your missus the SLK :D

He loves telling us about his Mercs does Corky.

yep... any excuse to post a photo and remind us that he has a few stars in the garage...

If I had 2 neat cars like those I would post picture too, just to make you guys drool, and think what you can't have.

Well maybe you can't have them, but if I so chose I could afford to buy an SLK or S Class merc or a BMW 5 series :D however I refuse to pay the huge sum of money required because of high import duties and besides that I already owned several high performance and luxury cars back when I lived in the UK and France :D so I don't need one here (mind you that said I've changed my car 3 times since I moved here over 18months ago, might have been cheaper to just buy a BM from the off :D)

I don't really like mercs much anyway :D I'm more a BMW fan......I'd love to buy the new M5, but its stupid money....can buy a Ferrari/Aston Martin or Bentley etc back at home for the kind of money it costs here.

However if he had a Mercedes SLR McLaren then I might drool :o

The M5 is the best of both worlds, a sensible car, good for regular around town conditions, and turns into a wild animal when you go past 4,000RPM.

Around 50 grand in the UK, probably 4 times that amount here.

I saw a new BMW M5 parked outside the Grand Fortune Hotel just the other day. You've got to respect someone who can blow 15 million baht on a car like that, which most people won't appreciate, rather than on the 'safer' choice that a Merc 500s would be.

Sorry, I can't let that pass. I can appreciate a nice car, especially BMW's, of which my father has had several. But I can't RESPECT anybody who blows 15 million baht on a car. No disrespect intended :o

Maybe that M5 is corporate hotel car used to haul around execs?

15 mil Baht (400k USD, unless my math is FUBAR) on a BMW?, The guy can get a Maybach and still have some left over for a decent home state side.

The preception of wealth is pretty "funny" here in asia.

If Thaialnd could afford a car worthy of an M3, I think I could gather the funds for one.....

But becuse Thailand can't and wont, niether will I buy a M3.

But yes, the AMG badge belongs about 20 car lengths behind the M, or in the trash.

and its been a while since he has posted to remind us that he has a shedfull of these posers cars at his disposal worldwide.

normally he includes a picture of a girl posing with the cars , in case anybody should possibly suspect that just because he drives the wealthy gays favourite car (according to a recent bangkok post poll) he himself also drives his chest wig chariot along bourneville boulevard.

I've had the lowly C36/C43 as well as M3/M5 , they're all great cars, none belong in the trash.

I have a used S320 that has had 19" AMG alloys bestowed upon it by the previous owner. The alloys seem to have come with an AMG badge for the boot lid, so i have a (without doubt, awesome looking) S320 AMG. Its all <deleted> though, and I reckon a 2.4 Camry can keep up with me through the gears. I am satisfied with the pimpability of my car but need to upgrade to V12 asap so i can get back into drifting.

S-Class + drifting are terms that do not belong together!

Does your wife hit the freeway off ramps at night for some fast and furious drifting in the S-Class, Corky?

Hi Teej,

Hey skyline, Bimmer is fine, but my window switches went out on the driver's side went out so I have to open the door to pay the tollway fee for now kinda ghetto (my tint won't allow the card to autoscan, double whammy doh!)... other than that, she's doing fine.

I'd love to go to that event on sunday (what's gymkhana btw) but i have to work on sunday late-afternoon thru evening. What time does the event start? Do people actually drift their Mercs (with Merc engines, not toyotas)? I'd love to see someone drift an S-Class! That would be hilarious...

On another subject: have you ever heard of a guy who does custom exhausts named P'Piak?

What was the exact point of the OP?

Was it to showoff.......or he doesnt know where the signature is?

Im baffled!

It's just what Corky does, mate... maybe not showing off per se, but definitely showing. Nice cars tho.

Hi Teej,

Dont know about the exhaust guy, does he specialise in certain makes of cars?

Gymkhana is Japanese circuit racing around a very small track.Usually Civics,Evos,Impreza....Like a time trial event, one car at a time.

Should kick off around 10am.Have seen a few Mercs drag racing, but never with a Merc engine......Mostly 2JZ Toyota engines. The 2JZ is more tuneable than the Merc lump.

Cool info. I dunno what he specializes in, just have heard that he does a lot of custom work for a lot of cars. I'm looking for someone to do a new intercooler, delivery pipe, and full stainless exhaust for a Saab. I'll try to make it to the event Skyline, sounds like fun... are there girls there :o

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but it was stupid anyway, sorry.

Usually girls promoting stuff......Red Bull, that kind of thing......lots of eyecandy sometimes:)
