Nakhon Ratchasima residents grow grass as food for wildlife

NAKHON RATCHASIMA, 27 September 2015 (NNT) – In order to lessen encounters between humans and wild animals, residents and volunteers in the North-eastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima have jointly grown a variety of grass to be used as food for gaurs or Indian bison, as well as other wildlife.

The activity is a joint project between the Department of Livestock Development and the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation. Its objective is to expand food sources for the bison, as well as other wildlife, in Thap Lan National Park, some of which occasionally eat the crops in villagers’ farming areas.

The mission took place at Khao Phaengma Mountain in Wang Nam Khiao District. It attracted more than 200 participants, including students, villagers, and military, wildlife and livestock officials. Khao Phaengma is the habitat of more than 100 gaurs and is also a well-known conservative tourist attraction of Nakhon Ratchasima.

Foreign Nakhon Ratchasima residents grow grass as brain food.

Most of them are still alive and are constantly laughing. Makes sense in LOS.
