Hey guys, I'm going to be spending a few days in Phuket mid December. I'm wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of a good hostel that has private rooms. My budget is around $30 a night. I'm 26 and traveling solo, so I'd like to find a place that has a similar demographic so I can meet new people.

With $30 per night you can have rooms in many different guesthouses. But: It is high season...

Where do you want to stay in Phuket? With Many places in Phuket have hostels with private rooms or there are guesthouses with dorm beds as well. Some travellers spend a couple of nights at different beaches to avoid the extortionate cost of public transport.

I'd recommend you look at Hostelworld.

For $30USD you can get your own room in a small guest house anywhere on Phuket.

As madmitch said, you can expect to pay more for transport here than your accommodation.

There are several fairly new hostels in Patong plus a couple of older ones. As I said before, look at Hostelworld, read the reviews and make a choice.
