Thai Police: IS militants not found in Thailand

BANGKOK, 5 December 2015 (NNT) - The Royal Thai Police assured the public that no Islamic State militants had been found in Thailand following a warning by the Russian Federal Security Service which claimed that ten Syrians linked to Islamic State entered the country in October.

Speaking about a leaked document citing a possible entry of ten Syrians linked with the Islamic State group into the kingdom, Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda, National Police Chief, said not a single movement by the Islamic State has been reported in Thailand while admitting the existence of such document. He added that a team has been assigned to investigate how the document was released.

Meanwhile, Deputy National Police Chief Pol Gen Pongsapat Pongcharoen said Thai authorities had been on heightened sense of alert after the deadly Paris attacks which killed more than 120 innocent people last month.

In the meantime, Deputy Prime Minister Gen Thanasak Patimaprakorn made known that the document was only a warning, not an intelligence report while urging calm among the public.

Awesomely quick work!

Question. Since his boss only knew about the leaked secret document sent by Russia maybe 2 days ago, how could you clear a country of all possible IS operators in a day?

Laughing this off may not go well for the government.

Question. Does anyone believe any government spokesman anymore (if one ever did)?

It is quite straight forward to check the immigration computers to see if anyone with an ISIS passport has arrived in the country and filled in "terrorist" in the occupation box on the arrival card.

"We have interviewed all the known felons and fugitives with IS ties and they have confirmed that this month the ISIS crowd will be going to Egypt as everything is going cheap there and they get a group rate at Red Sea resorts."

"You know, these Russian intel guys: they like to make us jump, so funny..."

Like in other countries, the danger is within Thailand.

Paris did not need foreign extremists to slaughter 130 people.

There are thai sympathizers of IS too.

Within the country.

This image is in Thai and was posted on Facebook by a young Thai (whom I know the father).

And it says that "Islam will occupy the world very soon"...

Soon all countries will have to deal with the enemy within. More than enemies entering the country from abroad.

But I believe that the Thai government already knows that. Let's hope. Or at least I hope that they will soon see this image. It may make them understand that... it is probably already too late to avoid future troubles.
