Malaria Protection

Featured Replies

MY wife and I will be visiting her village in Daedudom province, Ubon, next month. Haven't been there for 2 years. Just wondering if we need to bother with malaria tablets or not?

ta muchly.

Forget the tabs.

Get a good spray with at least 40% DEET content, apply liberally.

Where are you now?

Mossie spray is easy to find in Det Udom. Try the local pharmacy.

Make sure you have a good mossie net to sleep under each night and wear long sleeve shirts and long pants when the sun goes down.

Dengue is more of a worry around the area at the moment so it’s better to take precautions.

I have no idea of the mozzie situation in the area you are headed for.

I would be more concerned about Dengue fever in Thailand.

Dengue: There is no vaccine and the best protection is to avoid day biting mosquitoes via the use of repellents containing at least 40% DEET ( diethyl toluamide).

See if you can buy BUSHMAN Insect repellent in the UK

http://www.bushman-repellent.com/ up to 80% DEET.

Use a mosquito net drenched in Deet, and then dried (store in plastic bag)

Stay indoors at dusk ... This is mozzie feeding time :o Do NOT have 'sundowners' on the verandah.

Naka.
