I went to pay my CTPL through my insurance company. A lot of confusion with girl in office. Anyway I found out after paying that it was going to be late as office was closed for holiday. Now I have been informed that due to bikes age (5 years) I have to get it inspected. I understand they only do it on Saturdays here at Big C so want to go to the Land office to have it inspected quickly. Do I need an appointment and is at where you do your drivers license? Thanks.

I go to the one on sukhumvit on the left just as you turn up onto the 7 motorway if you are in Pattaya.

If you have a Honda then they can do it for you in any shop.

If not there is usually an inspection place nearby the DLT office.(not the land office as you stated)

As you found out, when a motorcycle is more than 5 years it has to be inspected before you can pay the road tax. The inspection is not done at the Department of Land Transport, but at independent inspection shops that will display this sign outside their shop:

There should be several such places close to the DLT. After a cursory inspection, they will give you a report, that you take with you to the DLT when paying the road tax. If you prefer, for a small fee they will also arrange to take your paperwork to the DLT and pay the road tax for you.

Much easier to get both done at the same place.

Forget Big C and go to the Hwy 7 Overpass and look for Vehicle Inspection on your Left prior to getting on the overpass..One Stop shop that does it all in a single day for 50 THB service charge..Insurance Name change the works..Govt authorized place right on the main Highway Named Sopolop or near this name..Easy to find next to the Gym..

Yeah, the one-stop places are really worth the nominal charge, they do all the running around, queue-jumping etc etc.

We do the same with the car.

Thanks for all your reply's. I went to the one by 7 over pass and was fantastic. In and out in 10 minutes. They did the required inspection, collected the tax and will have the sticker tomorrow afternoon for total of 240 baht. Again thanks for the help.
