NAKHON RATCHASIMA: -- Police in Nakhon Ratchasima province took 142 people to the provincial court yesterday to face charges of gambling.

The gamblers were rounded up by the Army at three gambling dens in Tambon Johor in Muang district on Saturday. They were fined by the court, while those in charge of the dens face fines and possible jail.

The operation prompted provincial police chief Pol Maj General Thakoon Nanthisiri to transfer five top officers from Johor police station to inactive posts, pending investigation of alleged negligence. Thakoon yesterday said he expected the probe to be completed within 15 days.

Are the 'anti-corruption' initiatives more heavily skewed to Isan and Lana territories or have there been equal anti-corruption actions in Democratic/Junta zones of the south and BKK?

I think we all know the answer to that question.

Firstly, the army is doing the job of the police who are either involved or turn a blind eye to it (or both) and if there is illegal gambling involved in the North then they are simply taking action to prevent it. Gambling dens all over Thailand (especially Bangkok) have been shut down previously and so there is no bias!!

Why didn't you mention this when they raided the Bangkok dens?

They still clearly need to purge Thaksin's corrupt police force a bit further, as remnants remain!!

Excellent, the police chief moved 5 of his subordinates to inactive posts, now all that is required is for someone to move the police chief to a spare desk until he explains why he can't control his people.
