I used to have Truemove prepaid sim which I registered with bangkok bank for internet banking, but I did not have the chance to go back Thailand in July dealine to register my name and the prepaid sim has since expired. I tried this time using the AIS traveller sim this month and managed to extend the expiry by another 6 onths through multiple topup. Alas, now that I am back in my home country, only do i realise that AIS traveller sim does not support roaming. It is a stupid mistake to have not continue to have my Truemove sim validated. Any kind soul can advice any economical way of paying for a thai prepaid sim that can be used for sms token for internet banking and support free roaming? Appreciate it.

I am not sure any Thai company SIM is going to work outside of Thailand...is that what you are asking ?

Whenever I leave Thailand and arrive in another country my THAI sim will pick up a signal and I can make calls etc but at an exorbitant rate.

It's called Roaming.

Hmm ais does roaming maybe you have the wrong plan, my package about 500 baht with internet also, but prefer to use separate sim for mobile why I ask myself maybe a wannabe independent but never use the mobile sim lol.

My previous Truemove traveller sim acquired before the new law requiring registration worked well in the past for internet banking, Specifically I am asking if anyone aware if any cheap Prepaid card offers roaming. I am not making calls oversee, just want to receive sms for the sms token for internet banking' fund transfer.

I believe the DTAC and AIS sims allow roaming, but you have to turn on the roaming capability. AIS roaming is very expensive - about 100b a minute even for inbound calls

You can contact hyour bank via home WiFi. Roaming must be activated on the Web of AIS. Or you can try to call AIS Hotline.

Of course prepaid SIM-Cards (1-2-Call) can roam. You then even can use the codes *121* etc from abroad. You can also topup via Web.

If you have internet banking you can do this on this way. Then try to login to AIS and see if you get the SMS for OTP to login.

My example is for AIS. Try with your provider's Website etc...

Truemove AROUND THE WORLD SIM seems to work for me, what is the validity of the card after paying for THB 199? Is the number a Thai number or internatinal number?

I have AIS 1-2-Call that I use for internet banking. Can also top up from Thai bank account via internet. It is necessary to register phone number with bank to receive OTP. Plus as you obviously already know, all SIMS must now be registered anyway, using passport or ID card.

If the number works from abroad, try calling AIS Customer service on 1175. I have always found them very helpful.

AIS customer service confirmed that Tourist SIM does not support roaming.

Manage to contact Truemove customer serivce, they confirmed that Truemove Tourist sim supports roaming, and each THB10 topup will extend the validity for 30days using TrueMoney. AROUND THE WORLD SIM is not suitable for my usage as it requires me to be a Truemove customer first.

Unless there are any comments on the inaccuracy on the above, I will go for Truemove tourist sim in my next visit to Thailand.

Question, maybe I missed something, but why all this talk about Tourist Sim ? Why don't you get a normal regular sim.

As you might know, Roaming costs are very HIGH, the last time I was in Europe with my DTAC sim the rates were SMS Receive and Send 12 THB per SMS. Call Receiving 58THB / Min and Calling to Thailand 99 THB/Min

To go online with your SIM 350 THB / day for 25 Mb allowance.

These prices are as said from a couple of years ago, but as soon as you turn on the Phone with the Thai SIM (and you have enabled Roaming) you should receive an SMS with all the costs.

Regardless of what SIM you choose, be aware that inbound calls are charged to your account when outside of Thailand. Both caller and receiver pay. The rate will be very high for the roamer.

If all you need is to receive SMS bank messages, why not do something like Google Voice # that allows SMS to email instead ? Give bank your google voice number and you are set.
