I live at Layan and In early December the power fluctuations fried my LG TV. We called the LG service line ( the Tv is 2.5 years old so no warrantee) and asked for them to send a technician. After we described the problem they said we would likely need a new master board at a cost of around 6k baht They tried to dissuade us and suggested we think about buying a new TV but I insisted on getting a technician over. They said it woukd be one month and I told them I still want it fixed and they promised to call back with an appointment time. In the end it was a 3 day wait not a month and 6k for a new master board.

Last year power fluctuation fried my big flat screen LG. Local TV repair guy advised me to go to the main LG Phuket agent just about opposite the big Supercheap. Cost me about 5,000 baht.

My HD-TV power board came from Europe and costed me 3200 THB all included.

I've swapped it myself thanks to YouTube tutorials.

5000 to 6000 THB is too much...

Sounds like I'll stay away from LG TV's! Never had a problem with my Samsung or Sony!

You probably shouldn't have said that!

Many problems with Samsungs over the years and LG would not be my first or second or third choice. For sure Sony is good but pricey. These days I buy Sharp TVs from Lazada.

You don't use surge protectors, or run your gear through a UPS????

Yes I do use multiple UPSs at home, but that UPS failed also. I expected brown-outs 19 years ago on Nanai Road, but it's disappointing how bad the last 8 years have been in Kata.

Both my LG TVs are on APC UPS's, as are the set top boxes and external speakers. Touch wood, so far no bangs.

If the lightning is very bad, I unplug the UPS's from the mains.
