Hi Aussiepaul.

I too have only just come to live in Khon Kaen.I live about 30 kms away in a place called Nam Phon.My wife and i had a bar for several years in Pattaya, but we became sick of the life style and all the bull s##t that goes with it.Our village is my wife's home.i like it here, its peaceful and quiet and far less dangerous than our last place of residence.i too have heard of the ferang community that exists in the bars near the Pullman and i intend to make a trip there soon.I do miss the camaraderie of decent bar people also a good game of pool.As i understand, the beer and other drinks are of reasonable prices.I was told that whereas i can get a bus from where i live to these places, after 6 pm,i would probably have to get a cab home. This is not a problem, where there are bars there is usually easy access to cab's. And i do not drink and drive(i find i spill it when turning corners) There is a good community life here in Nam Phon, and there is always something going on.There are no ferangs here that i have seen as yet,but maybe that,s a good thing.I eat mainly Thai food, but it's not easy to find any felang food, like a loaf of crusty bread, some good bacon,Tinned tomatoes, baked beans etc unless i drive all the way to the city.I go to Big C about once a month, but even the felang food isles are sparse.Oh well, you have to give up some things to get better ones i suppose.

I wish you luck.

KKD

KKD, there a Tops in Khon Kaen and they usually have a good selection of farang food, Macro, also.

Maybe try this place -- note the map shows the 7-11 but there is a Tesco Express and a Family Mart at the main corner. One of the local Brit-Aussie hangouts:

+1

Nice place for a few quite beers and some half tidy Falangs for some friendly banter. Good food on the menu, and a nice pool table, if you feel like shooting some pool.
