February 2, 201610 yr Can anyone tell me the frequency of buses from Chiang Mai to Phayao on Monday? I know the Green bus timetable but it does not have a bus between 1 and 2 pm on Monday which is our preference. Are there others available at this time? Thanks in anticipation.
February 2, 201610 yr Author Chiang Mai to Phayao. I ask in this forum as there are several Phayao residents who frequent the Chiang Rai forum who may be able to assist.
February 2, 201610 yr a bus between 1 and 2 pm ?? wow that is one tight schedule for cr forum....cha cha
February 3, 201610 yr That's not a busy route. Most of the buses run from C.M., lLampang, Phayao and on to C.R. It would be a long trip and they are ordinary buses. No AC.
February 3, 201610 yr Popular Post I had a look at the Green Bus and there were 2 buses departing in your time slot. Route 671 Chiang Mai - Phayao- Thoeng departing at 13:15 Route 113 Chiang Mai - Phayao - Chiangmuan departing at 1400. I would check to see if they actually take you to the Phayao bus station and not where they turn off highway 1 http://www.greenbusthailand.com/website/en/services/bus/time-table#c10 I have travelled from Chiang Mai to Phayao but it was in 2010. The Green buses were good but the AC was turned down and freezing cold.
February 4, 201610 yr Thank you for your assistance, all sorted now. It would be great if you could get back to us with a little trip report. It might help someone in the future. We appreciate the thank you but a report on what got sorted would be very helpful.
February 9, 201610 yr Author Popular Post Trip report It was suggested I give a trip report as it may be of assistance to some. I realize that it will not be relevant to the majority on this forum but there are members who live in smaller provinces in reasonably close proximity to Chiang Rai who visit and appreciate the forum. The timetable on the Green Bus website does not list all bus times. We visited their sales office, located behind the Phayao bus station in an open fronted shop, and were told that there was a VIP bus leaving Phayao at 9am and returning from Chiang Mai at 1.30pm, which suited our needs. Both were direct, with no stops. Neither are listed on their web site timetable. The VIP bus is clean, air conditioned and was configured with 24 comfortable reclining seats and a toilet at the rear. Bottled water, snack and refreshment sachet are provided. The drivers were very good, not travelling too fast as sometimes can be the case as some bus companies have very tight schedules. It was appreciated, particularly as the road has many tight curves. We felt safe. The trip takes 2.5 hours, and the buses departed ten minutes late each way as they waited for late passengers. Cost for two was a reasonable 908 baht for return tickets. There are cheaper options but those buses have 40 passengers and make stops along the way. I suggest you book a few days in advance as the bus was full both ways. The reason for our trip was to visit Expat Auto, a car dealer in Chiang Mai who specialise in late model cars. We were impressed by them and plan to purchase a car from them in the near future. Have any other forum members had experience with this car company? The only downer of the trip was the loud conversation of a tourist couple who, even though they were sitting next to each other, conversed at a level easily heard by half the bus. They had spent a week in the south, and were spending a week in the north prior to returning home. They are heading to Chiang Rai after a couple of days in Chiang Mai. I suspect you will hear them when they get there!
March 3, 20188 yr Did this bus (Chiang Mai to Phayao) drive down the 118 past Doi Saket, past the hot springs than turn right to Phayao at Mae Khachan? Green Bus seems very 'secretive' about it's routes, can't find a real map anywhere.
March 8, 20188 yr Last I saw it going on 118 then right onto 120 and over the mountain. It's going on to Nan. There are not many of these route buses. Maybe two a day. Most C.M. to Phayao buses go thru Lampang and on to Chiang Rai.l
March 15, 20187 yr On 3/8/2018 at 2:06 PM, my friend I said: Last I saw it going on 118 then right onto 120 and over the mountain. It's going on to Nan. There are not many of these route buses. Maybe two a day. Most C.M. to Phayao buses go thru Lampang and on to Chiang Rai.l My step daughter goes to university in Chiang Mai and travels often home to Phayao on the Green Bus line and they go direct to Phayao and then return to Chiang Mai. I often drive from Phayao to Chiang Mai and see many Green Buses heading to/from Chiang Mai and Phayao after the turn off to Lampung. On route 118 there are also buses heading to/from Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. I think your info may be a little out of date. This thread was started 2 years. Maybe a new thread should have been started.
