The other thread just cites statements from a police senior from 2014.

sharecropper Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I wonder if the Police, Tourist Police, Immigration Police, Childrens' Protection officials, Human Trafficking Officials, City Officials, Military and other worthy law enforcement bodies noticed any Russian prostitutes, dancers, door girls, waitresses, touts and even the Russian guy flogging Virtual (glasses) rides outside Insomnia might, just might not have any proper work permits either. Thought not.
PattayaAl Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Before you all get excited or have heart attacks , I was one of those 30. There were 2 soldiers, about 15-20 tourist police and no one else. We were escorted to baht buses, 10 at the time and driven to tourist police station. After that nothing really happened , some people just wondered off, some had friends bring copy of passport and some like myself were just let go because apperantly one tourist police cop could check the status on line. Truth is, he was sending names through Line and could not check anything. I stood behind him and watched Line messages. Raids were aimed at foreigners ONLY

But if the officer on the scene wants to see your visa stamp NOW, and you can't produce the original, off to the police station you go. It happens. Though rarely. And it is the law. Murkey as it is....
