PATTAYA — More than 100 officers raided nightclubs along Pattaya’s famed Walking Street early Friday morning and took dozens of foreigners in for interrogation because they were not holding passports.

Officers from the Central Investigation Bureau and soldiers from the 14th Military Base went into five venues in the infamous nightlife and red-light area in what was billed as a crackdown on transnational crime, which ended up finding at least 30 foreigners without their passports.

The new profile of the pattaya sex tourist is disturbing.

But this one is locked so continue the rant here tongue.png

Wonder whether they would have been happy with copies (which I always carry with me)?

The other thread just cites statements from a police senior from 2014.

You get those naughty tourists.

Who do you think you are, coming here spending your money

Disgraceful Tourists. coffee1.gif

I wonder if the Police, Tourist Police, Immigration Police, Childrens' Protection officials, Human Trafficking Officials, City Officials, Military and other worthy law enforcement bodies noticed any Russian prostitutes, dancers, door girls, waitresses, touts and even the Russian guy flogging Virtual (glasses) rides outside Insomnia might, just might not have any proper work permits either.

Thought not.

Before you all get excited or have heart attacks , I was one of those 30.

There were 2 soldiers, about 15-20 tourist police and no one else.

We were escorted to baht buses, 10 at the time and driven to tourist police station.

After that nothing really happened , some people just wondered off, some had friends bring copy of passport and some like myself were just let go because apperantly one tourist police cop could check the status on line.

Truth is, he was sending names through Line and could not check anything.

I stood behind him and watched Line messages.

Raids were aimed at foreigners ONLY

Yes. Or even a photo in your phone. Face page and Visa/ stamp page

Well at least the cops look to be targeting that profile without fear that the PC brigade might be offended.

What happened to this:

"Proper papers". I assume proper refers to the brown paper, able to enclose light, flat and valuable objects, pouch type

Who carries their passport on a night out, They knew the net would be full.

99.99% of the time, you'll get away with a copy. But if the officer on the scene wants to see your visa stamp NOW, and you can't produce the original, off to the police station you go. It happens. Though rarely. And it is the law. Murkey as it is....

Pathetic really.

It just seems to be getting sillier all the time.

Seems to be happening in Chiang Mai also.

I mean who wants to come on holiday and put up with the rubbish that is going on these days.

Add to this the bridge club raid, ridiculous police checkpoints, tourist deaths, etc. They sure know how to drive tourists away....

I really hope there is a major tourist downturn and people vote with their feet.

Let them have the Chinese and Indians etc
