Since this looks like it might kick off a bit thought it might deserve its own thread. (sorry if not admins) wai2.gif

as someone who bikes 50-80 kms daily and has many of these obstacles on route i get stopped about 3 times a week now. I am taking a keen interest in this as it really does effect me.

So the police are strongly enforcing the no motorbike on many bridges over and underpass laws.

The maximum Penalty for this is 1000 BHT.

Bikers across BK big and small are peacefully protesting as of today against this by tying a black ribbon or strap to there left mirror and riding in the left lane.

Why the left lane? by Thai law on many larger roads the left lane should be mostly motorbike only (grey area) and motorbikes should not be in the far right lane regardless of capacity unless making a legal turn. This law is rarely enforced but since cars use the left lane and are so careless its a big scary at times so i guess as we all do we look for some safe space and ride there at an appropriate speed tongue.png

The maximum fine for deviating out of the left lane on said roads is 400 BHT.

After seeing some pics today im not sure what effect riding in the left lane will have on traffic flow etc i just hope no one does anything stupid.

If anyone knows more please post. I hope this useful to someone,
