Documents to transfer scooter to gf

Featured Replies

I'm getting a new scooter and will give my old one to my gf ... what do I need to give her in order for her to transfer into her own name? She is thai if that makes a difference ... do I need to actually go into the registration place ? thanks

Take the green book and both of you go to the DLT, don't forget your passport. Take the motorbike with you, just in case they want to check the frame and engine number. It is a painless operation and should not take too long. You might do it with a power of attorney and sales contract and such, but this makes it more complicated. The transfer fee depends on the sales value of the vehicle, a present for free is not an option, at least in Phuket.

Thanks. Am going to be away a month and wanted her to sort while I'm away ... I have a certificate of residency letter already if that helps ... I can provide a signed copy of passport/drivers license and write up a sale invoice ... guess I was being optimistic thinking I could just give it to her without doing anything!

You could.

[Give it to her without doing anything.]

Good idea actually.
