Brewster67 Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Well I thought I could handle it for 3 days, but the incessant Boom of bass ripping through my house is more than I can take. In Nakhon Ratchasima, and thinking of jumping in a car and driving off to some quiet location and book about 3 days till the madness subsides. Nothing against the Thais, I hope they enjoy their holiday celebrations, but the noise and madness is starting to gnaw away at me. So thinking maybe just bolt for a quiet retreat, and I am actually due a bit of a rest from the ratrace. Any suggestions?

ukrules Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Songkran is pretty much a 24 hour thing in Hua Hin. From what I heard it started Tuesday night and finished last night. I can't say for sure what's going on down town but around here it's quiet and I'm just a couple of miles out of town.
KhunBENQ Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 4 Star hotels in Bangkok with pool for less than 2k a night. Very little traffic in Bangkok. Seriously you will have a quiet place compared to the "village madness". Fortunately it was only the night from 12 to 13 in our village. Walls and windows shaken until 1 AM.

jeab1980 Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 We just go and find the music and join in two things 1. Always sounds better when there 2. When you finish dancing and drinking and go to bed you won't hear the bass.
happy chappie Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 A set of good headphones and some decent porno vids will do the trick.mind you 3-4 days of 'chuck wow' might effect you mentally.i live around 3 large temples who take it in turns to have a festival of molam 24 hrs a day 7 days a week.at least I can't hear the chickens and soi dogs.some of my farang neighbors do actually jump in their cars a take a break.
mikebell Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Just (yesterday) back from Hanoi. Cool weather; incredibly friendly people; cheap beer; wonderful service everywhere we went by people determined to make your stay memorable. Standard of English was very high. Trying to think why I came back to this heat and water madness & boom boxes and crooked cops and inattentive service staff and .....
