Keylkess Chuck for impact driver

Featured Replies

I bought a key-less chuck !/4" hex for my impact driver on eBay for 177bht.

It's crap,it doesn't hold the bit tight enough.

Is there something I'm doing wrong.

A decent one by Makita or Dewalt is 1000bht shipping.

Anyone know if there are decent ones on sale any where else.

I could just get the drill bits with 1/4" hex but there is more of a selection

if I get the chuck.

Why's that then?

Not sure if this a question on my remark about not putting the drill bit complete in the chuck?

Yes it is.

O.k.......I tried not pushing the bit all the way down and also holding the hex piece with a pliers when I tighten and that worked.

Oh.....

When you tighten a chuck, the three 'beaks' are moving to each other, but also deeper in the chuck. When they touch your drill bit and the bit is already touching the bottom it can not move deeper, and it prevents tightening more.

Well after a lifetime in engineering, I've never heard of that.

Lazada have a good selection so you could check there.

Also, Always put bit in to the bottom so it "seats" and not to cause any slipping when applying pressure and slipping.
