RAYONG: -- Police are on the hunt for a mother who left her newborn baby girl in public toilets at a Rayong clothes market.

The tiny girl - whose umbilical cord was still partly attached - was reckoned to be between five and seven days old. She was found in the ladies toilets at the Chaiyaporn market it downtown Rayong reported Thairath.

Wandee Saencharoen, 24, who runs the toilets said around 11.40 she was collecting money from people using the facility. She noticed a thirty year old woman with a baby enter. The woman was wearing a black shirt and long pants. She did not notice her leave.

The next thing she heard was a baby's cry and she found the little tot on a cloth on the floor of the toilets with a baby's milk bottle. She cradled the baby and immediately called the police.

Police said that CCTV directly outside the toilets was of no use but they are studying all other cameras in the vicinity to find out who might have left the child. The baby is being cared for at a hospital in Rayong.

I'm not telling the police how to do their job but with the umbilical cord still attached it would suggest that the mother gave birth at home alone.

No doubt a young mother overwhelmed. I am sure she is regretting her decision and will

turn up shortly full of remorse. She just needs a little support. coffee1.gif
