How did it happen.

12mm socket and a breaker bar.???? Footpegs had to come off to get the transmission casing off.

Weird though how the "stuck" bits came out with just some tangential "chisel" work with a centre punch.

Of course it threw the helmet away.  Bears are notorious for not wearing them...

Maybe they were glued in

& the solvent cut the glue..

^ I have a sneaking suspicion they purposely bottom out but even then only if they were assembled with a rattle gun.

KMK

Smokey skies.

Along the trail several burned areas.

Surely man-made, but why.??

Dry leaf litter on the deck in the trees.

Not liking these much.

Difficult to turn.

Also the small cable-guide tube

emanating from the 22-y/o carb

is missing.

So got a new Mikuni carb, OEM

from Lz for B520.

had mech replace carb and new

non-leveraged throttle.

Yes.

Running better than ever.

Oiled the chain and cleaned it up...

1-1/2 years maybe 300 hrs. later ...

the chain needs replaced.

Already had spare chain & 13-tooth sprocket on hand

so had my little KMK mech change them.

The o-rings on the funky old chain were all checked.

Sprocket was about half worn out.

Rode the 15K loop.

Got rained on a little.

Running so well.!

Climber:

The rear brake has been bad for a while,
but was happy with just the front.
Alas, today,
5 km. in,  papa somehow
tipped over in some rocks.
Busted the F brake line.
Getting back was real exciting on the downhills.
The good mech was able to replace the front line,
got the welder out and fixed the rear.
Also had a prob w/ the L chain adjusting screw.
The steel bolt into aluminum swing arm was all corroded & stuck.
Needed torch to extract,
 then, re-tapped,
 oiled chain & ...
good to go.
~1.5+ hrs.
P & L = 825baht .
B175 tip.
Feelin' born again.

When in Colorado papa sold the bikes.

Old KLR and the two TY350s

Yesterday at KhaoMaiKauw gave the Aprillia Climber/Yamaha 2T

to the little mechanic shop

that has taken care of me these past 7 years.

It has been real fun.

7 years of good times well done. And you know the bikes are in good hands.

  • 2 months later...

Temporally beaten yesterday by a combination of severely rutted trail and piss-poor suspension. Then on the way back discovered the joy of no engine braking downhill. hahaha
