Police are hunting a murderer who stabbed a nurse's assistant in Lamphun

LAMPHUN: -- Saijai Khiawnormuang, 31, was found Tuesday in her ground floor room at the P and P hostel in Soi 1 Jamthewi. She was completely naked and had been stabbed eleven times. There was blood all over the room with evidence of a violent struggle.

A 20,000 baht gold necklace and two mobile phones had been stolen but her car and motorbike were outside. Saijai, a native of Pa Sang district in the northern Thai province, worked at Lamphun Hospital and had been at the hostel for two years reported Daily News.

Friends told police that she was a very popular person who had lots of friends and often went out. She had recently split up with a man. She had phoned her mother on Monday evening to say she was going to move and had contacted a colleague later asking to swap duty times saying she had a small personal problem.

A scream was heard around 7pm but fellow residents put it down to an argument between a husband and wife. However, Tuesday morning when a friend got no answer from her phone she drove over, found the door ajar and saw the grisly scene.

Police think that the murderer was known to the victim with theft a possible motive.

Daily News is reporting the Sathaporn Reeliang, a neighbour of the victim was arrested in Uttaradit on Wednesday morning. He has reportedly confessed to the murder.

CityNews – A convicted murder-rapist has been arrested in Uttardit on suspicion of murdering an assistant nurse in Lamphun, stealing her things and fleeing the scene.

31-year-old Saijai Keawnormuang, an assistant nurse working in Lamphun was found dead, naked on the floor of her apartment with 11 stab wounds on May 31.

There was a clear struggle before the murder, as the room was trashed. In addition, her gold necklace and two cell phones were also reported stolen.
