My stock wipers (one year old) have always been a bit noisy and are now due for replacement. Can anyone recommend another brand available in Thailand that will be quieter and smoother? Thanks.

Someone else will no doubt suggest a brand of wiper... it could be a good idea to thoroughly clean the screen with IPA.

Also, if you can remember to ... lift the wipers every morning and lightly spray the blades with water and wipe the screen where they sit.

Due to dust I have to wipe over my windscreen every morning.

My older Ford Ranger had the same problem, new wipers did not stay new for very long. I found myself replacing them at least once a year. I thought I would try something different. I bought and applied a coat of 'Karshine Rain Off' to the windscreen last year. This product claims to seal the microscopic pores in the glass with a super slick non-stick invisible barrier that repels rain (their words not mine). Anyway, problem solved. Wipers now wipe silently and actually clean the windscreen without streaks. I applied the 1st coat about 9 months ago and it still works fine with the same wiper blades. There is plenty of Karshine left in the bottle for at least another 2 or 3 applications when the wiper blades next need some help.

Tried the Karshine product. Also wiped the blades down with vinegar. Seems to have stopped the juddering and the streaks. Especially when its a light rain. The usual clump, clump sound of the wiper is still there but I guess I need to upgrade the car for something quieter, like my wife'e CRV. Thanks!

4 year old Toyota pickup still have original wipers.

I have a separate shammy and always use water with washing up liquid to clean the windows and wipe the blades each time I wash the car.

I put Tesco screen wash in the wash bottle and always start with the screen wash option when using the wipers, even in the rain as I it clears the grit and muck first.

After 4 years they are just beginning to get a little smeary so will get a new set at the next service.

Nothing more annoying than noisy wipers making that clump clump noise at either end of the travel. New complete blades usually cures it. Its caused by worn blade rubbers and/or wear/slack in the blade holder.

Judder is usually only in one direction and is often caused by the end of the arm not being parallel to the screen. Remove the blade assembly and put the arm back down onto the screen, Look to see if it sits flat on the screen. If not use a pair of mole grips (with a piece of cloth so not to mark the arm) and twist it unit it sits flat on the screen. (Lift up the arm again to do this). It will usually spring back to a degree so you might need to twist it a bit more than is actually required. Difficult to explain in words, I can do it seconds.,

Could not find the Aerotwin, only a "Eco" Bosch product everywhere I tried including Lotus.

Finally bought blades from B Quik, a Korean brand, Asuki Revolution Wipeout.

No more judder, smear and clump. Price was about 1,000 THB.

The OEM wipers on my pick-up were still OK after nearly 4 years but I changed them anyway as they were starting to leave streaks.

I bought one regular rubber blade for 199B and one silicone rubber blade for 249B, both from BigC. They have only been on for a few weeks so I cant tell yet which is better (if either).
