Closing Dtac postpaid

Wifes account

Went in to branch & was attempting this only to be told she cant due to the fact she still had money in it (not sure how much) as most Thais dont bother to question & told to come back in a couple of mths (OK no need to pay then)

So went in yesterday after receiving SMS Bill ( to me nothing had changed) they just kept billing her (I actually use the card )

There seemed to be no problem once the bill was due SO since i dont speak enough Thai & wife just excepting what they say I was just getting a blank stare & you owe this much while trying to say the other women is mai dee for not closing account

Only if i knew that there was no change in the billing i would of insisted it be shut immediately on the first visit

Not sure what to say. Obviously you need to be able to communicate that you want to close the account, settle any remaining payments, and receive confirmation.

That said, the party in whose name the account is in must be the one to cancel the account, with proof of ID. Otherwise anyone could cancel your account. Your wife needs to be a bit more persuasive.

Maybe try calling (1678), email, eservice, LINE, or stop by a larger shop?

Or switch to pre-paid, then use up any remaining balance and discard.

I guess you may have over paid, and have a credit balance of less than 1 baht (e.g. 65 satang), which is presenting a problem with the agent you were dealing with. Escalate.
