Connectivity upgrade underway for Singkhon Pass

PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, 11 July 2016 (NNT) – Prachuap Khiri Khan Province will be upgrading the Singkhon Pass' land connectivity, enhancing logistics and tourism between Thailand and Myanmar.

Prachuap Khiri Khan Rural Roads District Director Paiboon Rueangyuwanon has revealed that the Singkhon Pass will be undergoing an upgrade, turning the facility into a permanent border crossing point between Thailand and Myanmar to accommodate more economic growth.

The rural roads district is in the process of survey and design before the 14-kilometer road connecting Phetkasem Highway Number 4 Road to Singkhon Pass will be renovated with elevated ramps at the interchange point

The traffic surface will be expanded, adding 2 additional traffic lanes to allow vehicles to pass on a new 4-lane road to facilitate the increased traffic from trucks and tourist cars crossing the border between Thailand and Myanmar.

A public forum on this project will be held on 15 July 2016, followed by a public hearing after the survey and design process was completed. The construction is set to commence immediately when the project passes public hearing. It is estimated that constructions will begin during the 2017 fiscal year and reach completion by 2019.
