The secret shames of Pattaya expats ...

Featured Replies

You're an expat living in Pattaya.

People expect certain things from you.

But you've got secrets.

What are they?

It's fine! Everybody's got some of these secret little shames ...

Inspired (copied?) from The Secret Shames of San Franciscans.

Can only speak as a former expat. I came to Patty to hone my skills as a W*ore Monger. I feel ashamed, because all other Farangs apparently go to Pattaya for the Temples, the climate (finnish sauna) and the pristine clean beaches. Ashes on my head.

Cheers.

I caught yellow fever from eating street food.

Have not told any of the women I know I have it.

If truth be told this could be TVF's reigning longest thread.....

Not sure if it would be forever boring or endearing.....

Guess we need some samples - with pics.....

I can't think of many words that are misused more often than "secret."

"You keep using that word.  I do not think it means what you think it means."

Truth? On TVF?? Come, come, sir. Back to reality if you please.

Most people think I go to pattaya to monger but Im just there to help out at the orphanage.

Why not make the thread about things we are proud of, then you will get all the good stories, that time I met 2 sisters, that night I took too much viagra etc etc.

You are under the false impression that people are ashamed of there deeds, lol

"It's a boy!" my best friend shouted, tears rolling down his face. "I don't believe it. A boy!"
.

It was at that moment I think he decided he would never visit me in Pattaya again. .......:coffee1:

You don't understand the concept.

Read the article in the link about San Francisco and maybe it will sink in.

For example, San Franciscans BY OTHER SAN FRANCISCANS are expected to hate Fisherman's Wharf because it's a cheesy tourist trap.

That's very well defined.

What's expected of Pattaya expats BY OTHER PATTAYA EXPATS is definitely more ambiguous.

Which may really be the reason this thread is a dud ... but it's here for people to play with if they like.

Try writing a clearer post instead of click baiting another website and maybe people will be able to respond.

OK, here is another way to look at this topic.

This topic is for Pattaya area expats only.

It's not for non-Pattaya people that have their own twisted impressions of what Pattaya expats are like.

So Pattaya expats, what do you think are the EXPECTATIONS that Pattaya expats have about each other?

That's an opinion.

THEN, when you've got that concept, what are some things about YOU that don't meet those expectations?

My big secret is I am only pretending to live in Pattaya so I can qualify under the criteria dictated to me and be able to post in such a fascinating thread. JT is always so cute when he is telling people who may or may not participate in a thread he starts.

So JingThing,

What made you make that move to Pattaya?  I guess it wasn't just the food.

Was it naughty?

I should keep this secret because most people can't seem to tell the difference. There are more condoms floating around in Pattaya Bay than jellyfish.

...another .......'lucky to have a job thread'.....

I guess you mean Swedish sauna?  With Finnish sauna temperatures you would not be walking outside at all. :P

If anyone told us a secret JT, it would not then be a secret, would it?

I fell asleep one time and woke up with a Soi Dog licking my balls. I may have let it continue for 15 minutes longer than would be acceptable in an average family home.

Could it be you are a closet Celtic supporter. Hee hee.

Very simplistically Jt I don't expect anything of other Pattaya expats any more as otherwise I would probably be continually disappointed and let down ;)

However everybody has an opinion and who is to say what is right or wrong.......

Love Pattaya,

lts got what my French mate calls "spirite".

He says that he comes here "for a little bit atmosphere change"!

l agree.

One thing I like about the group of friends I have here is that no one really gives a damn about your secrets. What we care about a bit is what you are like now: are you decent, not a mooch, we don't want to hear about your paid for conquests, braggarts, etc. If you are a child molester or some other active criminal type, we may turn you in. Other than that, it is a live let live attitude I find refreshing.

Now if you were to talk about the unmentionable HASH....then that wouldn't be a secret anymore.

Such good clean fun. Sadly missed in later years.
