HUA HIN: -- The Criminal Records Division of the Royal Thai Police today released the sketches of three suspects in the bomb and arson attacks in Hua Hin which killed two persons and injured 30 others on August 11-12.

The three suspects aged 30-35 were caught by CCTV camera at Chatchai market in Hua Hin, believed after planting fire explosives at the market because they have changed to clothes they bought from the market in the morning of August 10, before four bombs exploded at four locations on August 11 and 12 at a bar beer and the clock tower.

The police were seeking warrant for their arrest from the Phetchaburi Military Court today.

The three suspects were believed to return to the deep south and are hiding in the three southern provinces.

Police said investigation into the Hua Hin bombings has made much progress.

Explain this police statement then:

" Pol Gen Chakthip himself surmised that the attacks were likely politically motivated, as the provinces affected by the bombings voted to accept the draft constitution. The attackers therefore may have held dissenting political opinions and wished to discredit the referendum’s results by attempting to incite instability and inflict economic damage to the region." - Commissioner General Reports on southern attacks,  http://news.thaivisa.com/thailand/commissioner-general-reports-on-southern-attacks/151017/

Neither insurgents in the South nor any group made claims on the these  attacks (very oddly, nor did the Uighurs group claim the Erawan Shrine attack). Meanwhile,  police have proven time and time again they don't really want to investigate properly, seemingly more inclined to find scapegoats and protect persons of influence (ala Koh Tao murder investigation). Thus, this is likely never to be solved, just like so many other attacks since NY Eve 2006 BKK bombs to present day. Yet many absolutely pin this on 'Southern insurgents' (despite suspicion someone hired Southern elements and used Malaysian phones to further cover-up). Also, the Erawan bomb case looks like yet another complete cover-up job.  Meanwhile, the car/ambulance bomb last night in Pattani sets a dangerous precedent and a worrying escalation from the norm in the deep South where implanted devices on Motorcycles was the norm.

This is all very worrying because 'if' there is indeed a different mastermind (than Southern groups) behind the 'Mothers day' Hua Hin/Phuket etc (+Samui?) bombs, they can now escalate to using similar car bombs in other locations and with impunity as most would 'simply' pin the blame on Southern insurgents. With the precedent now set and with someone appearing angry at the referendum, also bent on destroying tourism /the economy and destabilising Thailand in advance of a difficult transition period., one greatly worries escalated and larger scale attacks are ahead.

Given that the 3 southern-most provinces voted against the referendum, there is no conflict between what Balo said and the above police statement.

They have had the ways and means for ages to use car bombs , they were taught very well , by Indonesian terrorist groups,  the same  that twice  blew up Bali ,  nearly  2 decades back.

I'm not sure they would be that stupid.  They don't look like bombers (if there is a look).  Everyone knows there are cameras everywhere, and just because they changed clothes, (maybe they bought new clothes) doesn't make them bombers.  If they are poor, and only changed into new clothes they just bought, an unlucky day for them because they may be tagged regardless.
