Phuket rental

Featured Replies

So I have just arrived in Phuket with OA Visa in hand ready to begin my new adventure. I am currently staying in a hotel in you guessed it Patong!

Looking at renting a house somewhere around Phuket town or central Phuket. Without going into a bunch of details this is the area I definitely want to stay in for the short-term 1 year or so. I am not newbie to Thailand though I have never had an extended stay here for more than one month.

I am hoping I can find a decent place for between 10000 + 15000. Two bedroom two bathroom fully furnished. Just has to be comfortable not necessarily a Palace, but it does need to have a throne! From my early inquiries it appears this is not too ambitious. But we will wait and see.

The main query I have is which is the best way to go about searching for properties I have been using the website ddproperty.com which appears fairly comprehensive and allows for a lot of filtering but wondering if they are better websites or other options?

Anyway as usual any input is greatly appreciated.

Cheers Kanga

Welcome to the long stay,

Just driving around in the area you like, house for rent will often have a sign on it. Gives you an idea of local services etc, 711 close by, coffee shop down the road etc, You need a Thai friend to read the signs and call the numbers.

Drive around, even if you see no rental signs, ask a Thai. They may know about a good place that isn't being advertised.

Thanks for that guys.

It would seem that's not a bad option as the internet stuff appears is to be controlled but just about one person. With contradictory information  and haphazard photography. Shouldn't be surprised I suppose we are in the los.

Still It's a bit of a tough way to get a place!

Welta is a nice lady and offers a good service.

Thanks for that. The website is in stark contrast to the other rubbish. I will give her a call and see what she has to offer. Cheers

When I first arrived here I used Welta's site to get a rental house. Nice people, well organised site.

Bear in mind your monthly rent will contain a 10% mark up to cover their commission.

There's a few different facebook groups out there also just so you can see a few more properties.  Granted they are mostly foreign "agents" listing on the fb groups, but you'll get a better idea of what's out there vs Welta and ddproperty.
