Joshua Wong 'persona non grata': deputy immigration chief

Hong Kong student activist Joshua Wong is persona non grata and is not allowed to enter Thailand, deputy Immigration Bureau chief Pol Maj Gen Pakpoom Sajjapan said Friday.

 

Pakpoom said Thai authorities determined that Wong would be a threat to security so he was deported to his origin country. 

Thai authorities on Wednesday denied entry to the pro-democracy activist at the request of China. He had been invited to speak at an event to mark the 40th anniversary of the Thammasat University massacre. However, Wong on Thursday joined a talk titled "Politics of the Young Generation" via Skype at Chulalongkorn University.

Deputy police commissioner General Srivara Ransibrahmanakulhas said he there was no threat to security in Wong's skype talk as he only talked about the movement in Hong Kong.

So they wheeled out the Deputy today, and not the Chief who, on Wednesday, blatantly lied to the press...

Still can't figure out why Hong Kong officials even let him fly out of HKG? Very easy to deny exit, take away his passport and avoid any problems.

 

Or did they consider re-routing him to the mainland?

He's a threat to national security because he might promote democracy, something that does not exist in Thailand at the present.  Can't have the students of Thailand getting any "crazy" ideas about democracy, the generals might find they are not liked very much.

Lets not upset the propaganda applecart here in Thailand. We do not want to turn all these uppity young people here into free thinkers of the future heavens no. If these young people want to listen to freedom propaganda we can dish plenty of that out from the government level we do not need outsiders to explain freedom to our young people. So there. Dear All,

Jashua Wong is well known in HK and in the democratic circles of SE Asia. He wants what we in western world already have, no difference: honest elections 

He was democratically elected, hence should be allowed to enter any country. Would Thailand prevent US president from entering  because he also preaches democracy of the same style as Jashua Wong. Finny but seems powerful china scared of a 19 yr old and more so of what he preaches and advocates.

I think however you want to portray Prayut by picking out students, Red shirts and the Shins and making example if you cross that line is a shrewd move, it might also backfire big time if and when the ferryman comes in.
