So I recently moved to Khon Kaen...

Featured Replies

HI All,

I recently moved to Khon Kaen and it would be nice to meet some in the expat community. How do I get in touch?

Regards,

Steve.

Hoping to find some who have settled down, have a family and are here long term.

Many hang out at Central Plaza, especially with kids...the mall is a built in entertainment center for families.

Down near the lake (southern not northern lake) there is an expat community...many houses rented by farang families. You will run into them if you shop and eat down in that area.

Mouban Piman Chon 2 is a large housing development with many foreigners and the nicer ones can be found at Pizza Stories, a great little restaurant just past the local Tesco and near the security entrance to the housing village.

Plenty so called farang bars around Pullman Hotel.

Nothing sleazy. Just standard pool and beer bars.

Understand you are a family man, but I guess, as most family men in the world, you also like a night out meeting your peers, once in a while.

Not really that many foreigners here.

Sorry, had the info from the net.

A restaurant frequented by lots of foreigners is Didines just a few meters south of the city shrine (shrine is just east of Khon Kaen Central).  Great Thai and western food.  I know quite a few foreign teachers from our university dine there regularly.    Also, there's a nice place to play pool in the front entry which has a small bar--good spot to meet and mix.

Run into foreigners all the time in that area--especially the southeast side.  Several foreigner-owned bars  (nice, brightly-lit, clean places), and a few foreign food restaurants.  Check it out.

No problem. It is more a hip entertainment complex where the more rich and famous go to be seen, and some go too spot them.

A few foreigners maybe.

Been there 2-3 times with local friends, but not really my scene.
