We are moving into a new 2 level house. I think theres a LAN cable setup in one of the upstairs bedroom which I presume will sort the wifi out for the whole house. Its a huge house and I worry that the wifi will not be good downstairs.

In my current rental the small wifi box thingy is plugged into my smart TV so that I can watch netflix. If that set up is upstairs then obviously I can continue to watch it upstairs. But if I want to have another tv downstairs do I have to get the guy to put another thingy downstairs to plug that into the tv.

thanks

Would be best if the whole house had a  hard wired CAT5 or better  LAN cable to every room

but if you like to use WiFi   and worry about signal strength then  look at some Wifi  access point/extenders/repeaters.

THanks for your reply. That wireless access point extender is what Im talking about above. I think the tv cable is plugged into it and thus I can watch netflix on my smart tv. Does it mean that I need 2 of those in the house to be able to watch netflix downstairs up upstairs on the different smart tvs?

I still do not like the idea of a wifi extender/repeater since it simply talk to each other over the wifi bands.. Furthermore, speeds between extender/repeater are often half (In Theory).

I prefer a Home Plug, one that turns your Home existing electrical cabling into a "network cable"

This one has better bandwidth and is more stable compared to a wifi extender/repeater. You need a pair of this to work though, one next to the router and the other in a location where you need LAN connection. Some offering actually comes with Wifi so you can solve the wifi deadzone problem.

Even to rooms which include a porcelain throne?

i don't waste a thought on people who do crossword puzzles, read books or surf the internet instead of concentrating on the main purpose.
