PATTAYA: -- A huge force of soldiers is expected to enforce the clear out of boats from the Bali Hai area of South Pattaya on Tuesday.

All boats have been ordered out of the area by October 31st. On Tuesday November 31st some 600 soldiers will be in the area to enforce the decision, Sophon Cable reported on Facebook yesterday.

All boats have been warned to be away from the area. This also applies to tourism operators delivering and picking up passengers.

The area that comprises nearly 18 rai of land has been used by some 1,200 boats in the past. It has become overcrowded and a mess.

Alternative facilities are now available in Jomtien.

An international regatta will be held in the Laem Bali Hai area in November 2017. Some 40 countries are expected to attend.

Boat owners give up, will move vessels by Nov. 1

PATTAYA:--Seemingly left no choice by the military, Pattaya speedboat vendors grudgingly have agreed to remove their trailered watercraft from streets and parking lots around Bali Hai Pier by month’s end.

Sanit Boonmachai, chairman of the Tour Boat Association of Pattaya, had sought to strike a deal with the military to allow some of the 235 boats affected to remain under the Bali Hai flyover and around the pier.

The army, however, insisted that the boat owners were using public land illegally to secure free parking and told them to remove their boats or have them confiscated.

Sanit said he wanted to see more meetings to ensure cooperation so everyone is happy with the outcome.

They buggered it up a few years back.

The original beach walk way and shade from the trees,  was ok.

Now look at progress.

I drove along the slip road to Bali Hai a couple of days ago. I cant remember ever seeing the road so tidy: there was  nothing parked along it at all. Usually it's full of boats, bikes, trucks, trailers, tyres and God-knows-what other crap.
