The pickup was supposedly swerving from side to side before it hit the other vehicle and the BIB suspected the driver had fallen asleep.

Did they bother to breathalize him ?

Maybe they didn't.  Maybe that's why the police speculated that the driver had fallen asleep, because there was no evidence of the driver being drunk?

Brake malfunction, it's a FORD.....

Seem to remember another manufacturer, from Japan, had a worldwide problem with brakes in it vehicles.

I'm amazed at the number of people on Phuket who manage to 'fall asleep at the wheel'. Yes I know in this case he was headed southbound and could have traveled a long way but its quite a common occurrence.

Looking at the damage to the front of the pickup it looks almost as if there was enough force to send the engine into the passenger compartment. I guess the airbag or maybe his seatbelt saved the driver from being catapulted through the windscreen.

Glad to hear the driver is okay most of these stories don't bode so well for the people involved

Sounds like inadequate breaking distance regardless....

another parking lights driver?

why is this even news?

Maybe it would have been a good idea if the police had asked the pickup driver what actually happened

A bit of a novelty for them I know

Then no speculation needed
