Virtual Thailand

Featured Replies

What's with these guys who don't live in Thailand and spend the whole year looking forward to getting to Thailand, but when the get to Thailand, the spend tens of hours per day on the TV? (and yes I know there are only two tens of hours per day!)

Are they for real?

Why spend so much time sitting in front of a computer when there is the whole of Thailand to experience?

I can understand some guy who lives in Thailand, perhaps miles from other Farangs wanting to be in touch with the rest of us boys and girls here.

But someone who is in Thailand for only a few weeks before going back to Farang land until next holidays- It's a bit weird by my reckoning.

I don't know, perhaps they are hooked in the E-xperience, a 'Virtual Thailand'.

Perhaps they are not even in Thailand at all..

Nah.... Surely no one would pretend to be in Thailand when they are not....

I've heard of Tele-commuting but 'Tele-Holidaying', surely not.

This idea of 'Virtual Thailand' does raise some questions.

Would being on holiday in "Virtual Thailand" count towards 'Considerable Time Spent in Thailand' I wonder?

Is ‘Virtual Thailand’ the same thing as ‘Real Thailand’?

Does Reality matter any more?

Why do you care GH ?

Personally, i'm hardly ever on here when i'm in Thailand. Too much to do and too little time to do it in. But each to their own.

Some people might go to, say, Patters for 3 weeks. They might have a look around for some of the time but might not be into sitting by the pool etc. Going on the internet is probably better than starting a drinking session at lunchtime. Theyr'e just probably biding a few hours away until the evening activities get under way. Either way, upto them :o

:D

Have you “Khun-sidered” that they may have see most of my Photo’s of Thailand :D and said to themselves, “Yes I have seen Thailand, now lets get back and play on ThaiVisaDotCom”.

Then tell all back home that they have seen Thailand. :D

Yours truly, :o

Kan Win :D

im with mr bo.

very rarely on TV.com when Im in thailand . the odd scan to see what's happening but no routine.

When I'm in Thailand I try to find a computer about every two or three days to catch up on mail and have a quick peruse of Tv. Rarely on for more than 1/2 hour.

Like you GH, I can't understand why anyone on annual holidays, in say Pattaya, would spend long periods on line instead of enjoying the experience of being in LOS for real. :o:D

Maybe the same farang you see eating at McDonald's or other western fast food joints. :o

Interesting point.

I think that if devoted annual or bi-annual holiday-makers to Thailand continue to post (or peruse) the Thai Visa pages, then they are either;

a) Addicted to Thai Visa

or

:o So happy to be back in the L.O.S. , that they are euphoric and want to contribute to the forum in some way.

Or maybe just looking for up to date info on something they need.

But if they are on for hours at a time, yes then definitley something not letting the cogs turn smoothly enough.

If you spend three weeks on holiday it takes another three weeks when you get home to catch up!!

Myself I just pop into the internet café to check my e-mails every two or three days. This year it was more because i was negotiating the move to my new apartment via e-mail. I never go on TV while on holiday because I know i would spend hours in the café and miss out on the sunbathing!!!

Do you have any one in mind GuestHouse?

For some people it is part of a routine so they don't break it when on holidays.

Sometimes it's easier to keep in touch using TV. Arranging get-togethers and such. One message here could save a lot of phone calls.

When I get back I'll spend some time online, but not hours and hours at a time. Too much to do to spend all day (night) behind the computer !

At last, my in tray is empty, I've set the auto reply on my email, my phone's redirected, my secretary has already put her feet up and I'm logging off before heading to Thailand.

Wonderful.... but is it real, or is it virtual?

despite 9 months travelling there and a couple of additional 4 - 6 week holidays, i never actually found this site till i was back home in the UK...

im back in march will be nearly 2.5 years since mine and my t/wifes last visit - obviously i have my wife and the news she relays from her family, but this site is where i get my gossip and news from expats etc living in Thailand now...

although you can betcha ass when i get back in march i wont be on here at all, well unless trying to meet up with a lucky few! :o
