Robin Hood restaurant (owned by Retox) restaurant.

At The Avenue on 2nd road, there is 1 large unit on the 2nd floor that has changed hands (and names) on several occasions. Different owners have different ideas but all ultimately failed. Possibly it's too difficult attracting people to the 2nd floor. What do you think?

Could be that climbing a couple of flights of stairs is a bit much for some; dodgy knees or ticker.

There is an escalator.

My objection to the Avenue is that you simply dont know what shops/restaurants are where, or what they sell, without going right up to them. Even Villa supermarket is more or less completely hidden. And by the time you do get to them most of them seem to have gone out of business.

Do they allow smoking in there?   This is a problem for me when eating at the other Retox establishments.

I have the 99B breakfast at the original Retox from time to time and have never noticed anyone smoking in there, and I think I would notice it. That's during the daytime.

I stopped going there some time ago so maybe they have changed their policy.  Smoking was allowed in the Soi Honey location when it first opened but maybe they have changed, too.

My interest is that I want to continue as a Bite Me customer in whatever form it takes in Robin Hood.

There is a large area of seating outside which seemed to be well populated last night about 7.30. English football will have dragged a few punters in. I wish them well and I think they may succeed. Their target market goes beyond English cheap charlies found in many other bars in the area. Good luck to them.

That will exactly be the problem. The " target market " you refer to is very limited especially in Pattaya. Most people do not want to pay 395b for a burger. Add the drink and a small tip and its 500.  Good luck to them but I predict they fail within a year.

Tourists may pay it. Local residents probably wont.

Local residents form a large part of most venues' clientele (even if the venues are unaware of it), especially in low season.

I wish them luck....Any one who serves a HUGE breakfast for 98 Baht

is ok by me......

I heard Robbin Hood was paying rock rock bottom rates on their lease

so they Retox was not risking much in the new venture...

What breakfast is that? You mean the small with one egg and no coffee?

Looks like 295 b to me for the big.

That 295 b big breakfast is exactly what I can get at several places for 100 b including coffee.  Heck if you buy coupons the Lek buffet which is across the street is much better at 120 b.

I beg to differ. RH's Big Breakfast comprises of (pause for deep breath):

3 rashers unsmoked back bacon

2 fried eggs

2 large sausages

1 slice black pudding

Portion of fresh fried mushrooms

Pot of baked beans

2 slices of fried tomato

2 hash browns

1 large piece of fried soda bread (absolutely gorgeous)

2 large slices of toast with butter

Large orange juice

Coffee or tea (Tetleys tea, I think)

My eyes were bigger  than me belly but I managed to get through it all......eventually. It was value for money, in my humble opinion.

Right, I have too.

So, show me that breakfast at Robin Hood.

Looks to be 295 not 98.

Differ about what ?  That is the 295 breakfast, not 98 b.

Based on quality, and therefore ultimately value, I now prefer the Haven.

Would be surprised. Where did you hear that? How much is "rock rock bottom"? Word was the lease was/is 400,000.Baht a month, prepaid for a year, to the unfortunate American bloke who lost his fortune. How low could Avenues, whomever that is, go? It's a failing mall but none of us on here really know who's taking the losses. Sometimes "owners" don't seem to care about losses, pride more important.

I very much doubt they are paying anything near that. They moved out of LK Metro because of a greedy landlord.

It is smoke free inside (for now anyway)

At the moment, Retox is smoke free until 6pm.

Retox Game on, is partially smoke free, which does not really work.

Same with me. I gave Retox a miss as soon as the Haven opened. You don't get the drunks still at it from the night before at the Haven.

Tried The Haven breakfast on Tuesday.  Very good and, yes, smoke-free.

Nobody should smoke in an eating place even if it is allowed, it is just plain selfish.

The Lek breakfast is good, but 120Bt?? The last time I was in there was a year ago, and it was 150Bt, nice to see the price has come down.

:).  If you buy 10 coupons ahead it is 120 b each time.  For the price and food choices I think it is the best bargain in the city.  If you go at 11am or so, you really do not have to eat the rest of the day.  Chicken, fish dishes and veggies, all the breakfast options, unlimited coffee and OJ, fruit, salad, etc.

I went there for a month everyday and got tired of it.  I go now about twice a week.

Even at 150 w/o buying ahead it is a bargain I think.

No aircon if that bothers one.

How would you compare it to the Apex? I ask because Apex went downhill a few years ago and I had quit going to the Lek years before that. Unfortunately it didn't result in weight loss as I started going to Cafe Pasquel but am willing to give Lek and Apex another try based on your reply. Do they cook eggs to order at either now? Thank you.

I think indoor smoking is banned in Thailand. Maybe they have smoked ribs?

I have eaten at Robin Hood twice so far. (I am not a local bar fly since I find it boring.) The menu is not huge which (to me) means what they serve will be up to perfection. So far I have had their burger, the second time the roast beef sandwich. Both, worth the price. Service was ..ok, when the waitresses  are busy socializing, just ring the office bell on you table. I cannot remember if there is a Happy Hour there.  As soon as RH allows smoking inside, I am out of there.  Smokers can sit at the outside tables.

I had Gammon there recently sorry but it was like it had died from old age.
I think it was the worst ever.
I'm willing to try something else.
