UBON:-- A Thai granny who had her money stolen by a cruel thief as she was giving change for fried grubs has got her cash back.

Police and representatives from a travel company reimbursed Lek Pattha, 78, after her nasty experience selling "dak dae thort" (fried silkworms).

Lek told the Ubon cops that she was selling her wares in front of the central town hall during a fair on Thursday night. A woman aged about 30 came up to her to buy some grubs.

The woman asked if she had change for a 1000 baht note and when Lek rummaged and found the necessary change of 770 baht the woman grabbed it. But she had not yet handed over the one thousand baht note.

The woman quickly fled on a motorbike.

Police are hunting for the callous thief.

Oh ezzraaaaaaa  noooooo mai mai :D :D

I hate those "cruel" thieves.

I much prefer the "nice" ones.

The ones you see in films, who only steal from bad people or people who have "too much" money, and don't get caught.

yikes... good that the lady was caught...slapped on the wrist... and let go... catch and release.

The thief was not caught.

You will never prosper cheating some one.  It will come back on you eventually.

So sad a true example of generational change. A 78 year old lady working trying to survive and a 30 something lady steals her money and rides off. I am sure that when the 78 year old lady was 30 this type of thing was uncommon. It was nice to see a travel company reimburse her without having the name of their business flashed about.

What a Grub.

Please do no disrespect the elderly if that was your intent. As we age we are all starting to look a bit grubby and ragged around the edges.

You should refrain from drinking when reading posts here, or at least use your reading glasses. The grub was the bitch that stole the money, for what reason could I have possibly meant the comment for anyone else but the thief. DOH

Thanks for your interpretation. It was a confusing comment. Have a great day.

interesting replies around the word grub. if I called a person a grub it would not be a complement so the original heading of "grub granny" is a bit misleading. it is very good that someone donated  money to the woman and hope they catch the grub the stole from her
