BANGKOK: -- About 70 percent of respondents to a poll conducted by the Super Poll Institute want the government and all political stakeholders to work out reconciliation among them before there is an election.

Altogether 1,378 people of different walks of life from across the country were polled during January 9-14 by Super Poll Institute.

The opinion survey shows 70.2 percent of the respondents want to see there is a reconciliation among the government and all political parties and groups before the country go to the polls in accordance with the political roadmap.

90.1 percent of the respondents also agree that there should be law which bans political parties and politicians from attacking one another during the electioneering that will lead to more conflicts among the people.

Reconciliations Thai style..... while the right hand is starched out in peace, the other

hand is holing a dagger ( or a gun ) behind the back.....

How does this rubbish ever come to light.

In politics there is never a reconciliation, there is always a left and a right for instance, no matter what the various parties are called. I think this is healthy and maintains some balance.

What does reconciliation mean here?

I guess it means reconcile to the fact that the elites will continue to run the country irrespective of what people actually want.

I think the necessity of all politicians to get their noses in

the trough again, will be the biggest draw to some kind

or reconciliation,as they must be missing all the  "perks"

of been in power .and as soon as the election is over

it will be back to the status quo.

There will never be reconciliation as long as there is so much money to be made in politics. As long as that is the case the leaders on both sides will use their follower to stir up trouble to get in power even if they lose the election. The moment corruption laws work good and politicians are clean reconciliation is a option because no money can be made.

There will never be reconciliation until the plebs resign themselves to being chattels of the state and stop getting ideas above their station, more like. The money to be made from politics is more  of a side issue, I think - as long as 'good people' are the ones profiting then it's just fine.

It's just a word you could substitute 'progress' or 'reform' for. It means whatever you want it to mean because there is nothing tangible behind it, so you can string people along indefinitely.

From Alice through the looking glass.

"'When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, 'it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.'

'The question is,' said Alice, 'whether you can make words mean so many different things.'

'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, 'which is to be master — that's all.'"

"...reconciliation before...polls..."

Thailand's current plight has never been about "reconciliation"

The commandeerers' agenda was, and still is "transition", and preservation of the status quo.

The election, when it eventually comes, will only be a sideshow, regardless of whether the factions are reconciled or not.

"...Most interesting aspect about this poll is that 33.3% of respondents want Prayut government and NCPO to remain in office..."

One wonders how the pollsters put this particular question to those people surveyed:

I can only comment on the Thai people I know. I would say 70% are coming to terms with the realisation that they are screwed, up to there eyes in dept with no chance of getting back to where they were 10 years ago. They know there savoir is not coming back and they are being put in there place.

Over 70% of the population would no idea what reconciliation is about!

True.... and I am sure more than 70%, do not even care... if only food is available and served on time, then everything is fine.
