snoop1130 Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 Green line going nowhere for at least two years By Sasiwan Mokkhasen, Staff Reporter Authorities Monday inspect a portion of the completed Green Line tracks which will connect BTS Bearing to Samut Prakan province. Photo: Prachachat BANGKOK — The elevated Green Line extension from southern Bangkok to Samut Prakan province will not be ready for trial runs as promised, transit authorities said Monday. Though the 13-kilometer skytrain route from BTS Bearing to Samut Prakan is structurally complete, the metro transit authority says there’s still work to be done – and City Hall lacks the funds to take control of it. jadee Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 Living in Samut Prakarn, I'm unsurprised. Looking around at the state of the roads, sidewalks and public areas, you'd never guess that any of the revenue collected by City Hall was used for public good. I read in the Bangkok Post that work on the BTS line was being sped up to be completed in 2017. It did sound a bit far fetched but it wasn't April 1st so I reserved judgement.
trogers Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 You mean provincial hall...that's not Bangkok...
zappalot Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 But they had the money to apply a new road surface for several kilometers along Bangna Trad Road. Which was completely unnecessary. Using this road almost every day I could not understand why they spend that much money. The road was in good condition, no potholes or something.
Destiny1990 Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Lack of funds gosh hope there still some money left to buy these chinese submarines
bangon04 Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 oh dear - all those nearly finished condo projects along the rail tracks........
Crossy Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 The bulk of the extension was never going to become live before the end of 2018 anyway. As far as I know we are still on to open the station beyond Bearing some time early this year (April). As to what happens with the rest of the extension ... "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

It would take very little effort to open it early next year.... was out near the station in Pak Nam near the Big C and the track bed is done, the station is complete.... it is basically in a state that if it were a Condo building people would be moving in. The outstanding issues are really tracks (which I could not see) and signaling..... which could be completed if there was a will to (IMHO)
Crossy Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 bkkcanuk8, are you a rail systems expert? What discipline? It is most definitely not a condo. There are no systems whatever installed as yet, no signalling, no comms, no power supply and (fairly importantly) no rolling stock. Don't forget it has to be integrated with the existing system. And what about the depot facilities? You can't just buy this sort of thing off the shelf from stock. Yes, it could have been ready earlier, in fact it could have opened mid this year, IF contracts had been let much earlier, but the way these things are done here ... Contracts are let for the systems but it's pushing the envelope to be open (and safety certified) end 18. FYI Even E15 (the station after Bearing) which was due to open in March is delayed, because the systems chaps cannot get access due to civil work not being complete. Appearances can be deceptive.
