RAYONG: -- BMW HOPES to increase sales in Thailand of its plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) from 5 per cent in 2016 to 15 per cent this year.

The German luxury-car maker has already begun expanding the range of locally produced PHEV models at its Rayong plant.

BMW sold more than 7,900 vehicles in Thailand last year and is the second-largest premium brand after compatriot Mercedes-Benz, which sold almost 12,000 units in 2016.

BMW produces nine models at the BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand assembly plant in Rayong, in addition to one Mini model (Countryman) and nine BMW motorcycle models.

BMW would do anything to try to sell more than Merc. Huge discounts everywhere and large stock of cars. Not really luxury anymore, they killed the brand. People with taste will never buy a BMW. It's the Vuitton of cars. Only Chinese like Vuitton.

You really have to be impressed with that word(s) ramp up. Sure beats the H out of a more timid word like increase. I was on the scales this morning and boy did my weigh ever "ramp up"
